- I visited Margate v Folkestone in this Kent derby with Hartsdown Park being the worst and most dated ground to date for the channel. However things are changing as the stadium is set to be refurbished and extended this year!

Great Video Mate, Folkestone Fan here who was at the game. Unfortunately we didn't have as many as I thought from our end but with our recent form we've struggled to keep crowds until the final whistle recently so I don't blame them for not turning up. I feel Folkestone vs Margate is just a local derby as I've never felt a true rivalry as we do with Dover. Its a shame Non-league doesn't draw the crowds it should, we haven't been blessed with football teams down here in Kent 😂. I will be looking forward to your video on our ground and game (its pretty decent and can draw decent crowds for our level in my opinion).
Thanks Mr Kippo, you will have your true rivals next season when Dover come to town 👍🏻 I was hoping to see Folkestone v Chatham earlier in the season but it fell on a Tuesday night which i couldn’t make. As with all new grounds I always look forward to seeing them, hopefully I will get to Folkestone this season 👍🏻⚽️

Used to live there, for a coastal town, it’s alright, better than Dover, lived there too, but back in my south London, did you not pop in that gallery at other end of the beach, the way you were walking, is fairly decent in there, my last game there was a friendly vs my club, Crystal Palace, supported them since 80/81 season, we lost 3-1, but did have a youth team against their men, dougie freedman was manager, I moved back here from there about 9 months after
I didn’t have time to pop into the Turner galley, just enough time to plod along the beach 🏖️👍🏻
Good video mate and happy new year! The 4 way kent derby you was talking about would be quality although of course would love to stay in the NLS. You're right that attendance is very underwhelming considering the fixture, however both sides were on a poor run of form.

@@mattthegroundhopper9242 Definitely mate, would take a big swing of results and can't see it if I'm honest. Leberl seems to have made us a bit harder to beat so far so hopefully we can take that into the Isthmian next season
Great video again Matt. I believe you said you were down near Eastborne over Christmas, so not such a journey from there. Not alot going on in Kent, football wise, except the Gills of course, and that game was no exception. Dont know what the crowd was there, but Margate aren't getting much more than 400 for home games. What a come down for Mark Stimson. Not alot of income coming in with that support. Remember my parents taking us down to Margate and Ramsgate as kids, although Camber Sands or Leysdown were easier to get too from Maidstone. Look forward to your vid coming saturday, as i know you and the boys will be at Priestfield. My Stream is also showing the game, so will one happy bunny. HNY Matt

Happy New Year, Matt. Going there on such a poxy day takes some dedication :) . Andy Drury used to play for us (Crawley) some years ago - I think that was in our heady League One days. He looked pretty decent and I felt he might have played at a higher level. As for Margate, the only time I've been there as an adult was a weekend a few years ago. There was an exhibition at the local gallery (Turner Gallery?). I came across an unusual shop just along the road from Dreamland called The Bong Shop, which was closed, and it looked quite psychedelic as you might imagine. Did you see those statues in the sea?

I were watching this other channel that did a video on Margate's ground. Doing a bit of reading on Wikipedia it seems like they have been saying they are going to redevelop the ground since at least 2005 and nowt has happened.
Yes this is true but it does now look like things will be happening from next month, exciting times for Margate FC 🏟️👍🏻

@@mattthegroundhopper9242 Not really a fan of channels that do this. I've seen so many videos where they go "limbs" "fans fighting" and you click on the video, no limbs and no fans fighting to be seen.
Matt certainly deserves more subscribers, but there are so many out there, doing this full time. Some are good, but overdo things. Every day a new video, which eventually becomes too much. Fortunately, this is Matts hobby, and he works full time, with a family, and more importantly his research and facts are first class. Also, he's a Gills fan...so he cant go wrong lol😅
