This also marked Parcells' last game as Patriots head coach and Belicheck's last as their defensive coordinator. Belicheck returns in 2000 to coach them and the rest is history.

No, the real "History" began when Tom Brady took over. Belichick was just 5 - 13 with The Patriots before that point (with Bledsoe), and a failure with other QBs after pushing Brady away from The Patriots. But DO NOT Blame Bill Parcells. Bledsoe threw 4 Interceptions in this game, and just melted down & wilted away after the 1st Quarter. The Defense (with Belichick coordinator) also played poorly here. But had Parcells instead had Tom Brady out there , then this game evens-up & goes to Overtime with Brady up on top (as we all saw many, many times)

Drew Bledsoe threw 4 Interceptions, and missed open receivers in this game. That was the difference maker.

I attended this game as a Patriots fan. It was when I saw Parcells remove his headset in the 3rd quarter and just stand there hands on fat hips and Drew looking helpless I knew it was over. Not just this game the whole Big Tuna experience was toast.
