    Awesome series! Quick question. Since the oil based clay doesn't harden are these kind of sculptures cast or am I missing something?

    Hey there your work is amazing as you know :) I was hoping you could tell me what you do to keep the sculpture solid when you give it as a gift or whatever, I always assumed people would cast it and turn it into a resin sculpture but yours seems like it just gets left as clay. Wouldn't it soften and deteriorate after a while due to everyday elements? Would love to know more. Thanks for sharing xxx

    It would have to be molded and then cast.

      Never knew you were part of a school, let alone a founder. That explains why your series on zbrush was so professional and insightful. I really appreciated the topics that went beyond the nuts and bolts of the program and talked about topics like; distractions, focusing on goals, dealing with frustration etc They were some of the most helpful things for me. Is there a way I could get in touch with you besides youtube comments? I do have some questions I'd like to ask you. I had sent you a message before (months ago) through your website, but never got a response. So would the be a better way to touch you?

      Best way is to add me on facebook. Unfortunately my site has been relegated to the back burner. it has been years since I updated it, I simply do not have the time. I know that sounds bad, but it's a good problem to have. It's not that I don't care I just choose to focus my energy in areas that are less self promoting and more towards teaching and private projects. As for the school and nice words, thank you. look for my name of facebook, cesar dacol jr.

    First wonderful work, your detailing and build methods are very well done. A few questions, have you ever used monster clay product and if so how does it compare to the dimm clay. How many hours was the work time? Your oven is it scratch built and how hot does it get to heat or liquify the clay? Would you leave this as the finished or would you cast it? If casting did you make a video for that? Thank you

  • @cesardacoljr9016
    @cesardacoljr9016  12 років тому

    Thanks,
    I don't cure the clay as in the case of polymer clays.
    This sculpture when finished would have to be molded and then cast up.
    Each clay is different polymer clays can be baked rock hard.
    Water based clays can be baked hard... but have issues with cracking.
    Oil based clays don't crack per say, but need to be molded.
    It's kind of a what are you going to do with them at the end question.
    Once you have that answer then you'd choose the clay that would fit your needs.
    Hope that helps.

They have a lot of nice goodies there as well.
