@@Phil_X Not sure why you are being so judgemental for people carrying their laptops? Even in this century, laptops serve a lot of purposes apart from just completing assignments. They are not heavy at all because in this century we have made developments which have led to very very light laptops compared to the laptops from 5-10 years ago (seems like you are a bit out of touch from reality). Not everyone likes doing their banking/travel plans/mails on their phone. Ease of use for office applications is not very good on phones when compared to a laptop (yes people do plan their travels on excel, word etc.). Not everyone has their emails on their phones, people like to keep their professional and personal lives separate, there is also remote work which you cannot do on your phone. Finally, not everyone likes watching movies on their phone, some people prefer a laptop. I personally carry my laptop while traveling so I can make music, play games etc. If you prefer to do things one way does not mean it is the ONLY way. Saying all that, do I agree with the passengers arguing? Not at all, its easier to answer the questions and move on. Do I agree that the questions were very generic? As a resident/citizen, yes; As an international student, absolutely not. Try being a little bit open minded and objective in your arguments instead of being an angry keyboard warrior. Do better!

New Zealand isn't one of those countries from which residents overstay their visa, lie to immigration, and avoid paying taxes by working illegally in Australia.
If you are a New Zealand citizen, then, you should be allowed to work, study, and live in Australia indefinitely without the need for a visa. Customs here forget about the Tasman Agreement.
The penalties are not severe enough. People who cheat at customs should have their passports seized for a significant period of time. Smuggling to avoid paying duty should have the same fines and jail time as tax fraud because there is no difference.
Actually if the visitors are cooperative enough to answer all questions with no other intention the officer will be cool with it. I was questioned by UK officer about the short course i attended, with all documents ready for them to go through and return ticket, everything is good.

The mainland and overseas ethnic Chinese value education. They look highly educated middle class, unlikely they will work illegally in a restaurant. A few years ago there were many questionable colleges in Australia and were later closed down by authorities.
I feel they could just say that then, instead of being hostile and cagey towards the border agents. “I’m coming to see the local culture and a visit a few of the major universities for my own personal research, as I am considering studying abroad some years in the future, but I want to know if I like it here first as a tourist. @CaterpillarFriend In an ideal world being so upfront and transparent is the corrrect way of doing things. I have never come across an official with a warm smile with open arms " G'day mate, how are ya?". It just does not happen because of the nature of their job. The jewellery lady was not wearing any on her. That is already a red flag
When I travel I never know what I want to see. I don't make plans and I simply want to check out what is in the country I'm visiting.
I also never travel with a lot of luggage, unless I'm going to visit a country that has no shops (haven't found one yet)
Same.
But then what she brought with her doesn't even look enough for "underwear" lol
Why don't people Google Q and A before entering another country?
They just don't care.
Entitled.
What is there to Google about? I mean if you are going to Iran or North Korea I could understand.
Asians are normally profiled. What's your country
@@arbjfulI do at least: visa requirements, quarantine and custom requirements, regulations on carrying medicines, embassy phone numbers, medical/safety concerns, etc.
NHK, for your example, recently released a video with tips on how to react in an earthquake in English because they want visitors to be more aware.
*YES YES YES* Very concerning not knowing what wanting /looking for Tourism. Obviously a very clever SPY or Terrorist ! But very very clever Guards smell conspiracy ! BRAVO!
The always feels they above everyone else is so frustrating that
My wife and I have been to 70 countries and all we do is walk around and explore or eat. Also is there one person in the world that does not take their laptop on their trips?
Why do people go somewhere and not know what they want to see?
We had a very good experience with the border staff. They were so kind. We declared wat we carried. And always be frank.
Why make the situation so dramatic ?
It's reality TV. We're only seeing the juicy bits.
I have been to many countries and not know what I want to see until I get there. It's good to just go where the weather, feeling, people you meet takes you
This will cause suspicion for the customs. It's better you have plans what to do and where to go before you go on a trip
@@Phil_X I didn't say I didn't prepare with Visas, Knowledge of customs, and money. I said I didn't always know what places I wanted to visit in the country. E.g. I spent 3 weeks in Iran travelling from one bus station to another and saw great places on the way but not actually planned and booked ahead. Started in the south and left in the north.
@@Phil_X Especially for IRAN !!!
@@Phil_Xno, that’s just you jumping to conclusions and projecting those onto them.
@ so you literally get told by the person you were making assumptions about that you are wrong and that’s not what they said at all.
Tell me, where do they explicitly say ‘I travelled without a visa’? They don’t. Anyone can make an assumption based off what they did say but that’s it, an assumption, not a fact. You’re getting pissy about it because you’re wrong and can’t cope with it.
I do this job….acting this way is one of the number one ways to attract suspicion
This is over the top. Coming from NZ for a 7 day visit why do you need to have a plan or a large suitcase? If I was thinking about staying I would take all my belongings in a large suitcase, wake up. Everyone carries their laptop as I do and my phone no matter how short a trip.
Do better!
@@Phil_X the century where you say that as students they may carry their ‘laptops’ to complete uni assignments. You contradict your own argument, fool!
I'd like to see her behave like that at Canada Border Security. They gave me a terrible time and I was a legit visitor LOL
Should see them when they have a hockey stick or go to war. Lol.
I was once told by customs that I am ripping off Australia, when I asked her if she can explain how, she told me you can go. Jeezz.
Australia is weary of two college educated Asian women, while America will let anyone in 😂😂😂
Not true, but go ahead
@@corvus1374 its true
@@tureroako nope
With deception written all over their face. They got caught big time.
That’s cause Australia has stricter immigration than the US does, unless you hold New Zealand citizenship.
The penalties are not severe enough. People who cheat at customs should have their passports seized for a significant period of time. Smuggling to avoid paying duty should have the same fines and jail time as tax fraud because there is no difference.
No need to be rude, the officer handled it so well kudos to her
New Zealand back door to Australia
In other country will be a possility that will go jail , just because of their actitude
No they won’t. Nobody goes to jail for being rude
Actually if the visitors are cooperative enough to answer all questions with no other intention the officer will be cool with it. I was questioned by UK officer about the short course i attended, with all documents ready for them to go through and return ticket, everything is good.
No visa, no entry. How can they fly here with no visa.
People from New Zealand with citizenship or PR can enter Australia without a visa.
Any countries dreaming of making money from Chinese, this is what you got. And the two having such poor command in English after finishing Masters Degree in NZ.
I'm visiting Australia to eat the local cuisine. Dingo. Wallaby. Camel. Roos.
Australia has camels?
@@PaulaDautremont We do indeed. If Google AI is to be believed, we have the largest Arabian camel population in the world! Never eaten one, though: I don't think I could manage a whole one.
@@PaulaDautremontyes, and buffaloes, as well as deer.
😅
Ya forgot crocodile 🐊🐊🐊
All the items should be seized and they will learn a hard lesson.
Should be, but weren't. Unfortunate, as they were actively involved in deception.
I travel without making plans on what to do. I look around and explore places. If they wanted me to provide answers on what I will be doing then my answer will be looking around. I don’t understand what’s wrong with that???
Exactly. And if I'm travelling for a week, i don't have more than a backpack.
Their attitude was insolent and uppity.
It is obvious they want to work in Australia be it legal or illegally.
😂😂😂😂
Work is illegal
Do you think that
Every thing is crime and illegal ?
No common sense
How do you work when you have no clothes or bathroom stuff
All can be purchased on arrival, but I know very few people who'd travel without at least a spare pair :)
The entitlement of these women
How did they get a visa, my son had to provide family, itinerary, finances etc
It is not about coming unplanned it’s about not being rude to others even when it sounds silly to you but they are doing their job very respectfully.
Let the people work in that desert place calls Australia 😂
You mean that desert place people dream of living in.
just curious if a vlogger/content creator needs to apply for work visa if they go overseas to film and publish after🤔
It varies based on the country and your purpose. If you are traveling for work, then yes. If you are traveling for tourism and planning on taking videos to publish afterwards. The work doesn't occur until after you leave.
When was the last time anyone else saw quarantine, customs or immigration investigating an incoming passenger to this level? It'd be shocking to see who and what gets through these days
Lucky friends!!! That is highly suspect that all that jewelry is for personal use.
Concern is valid
When I was a young traveler going from Vito country and an immigration person asked me what I was going to do there, I would have just said I’ll check my guide book later after I have a place to stay.
AMOUNT OF BRUTALITY VULGAIG TALK ARROGANCE IS KILLING MY MOOD OMG FEEL SORRY FOR THOSE ANGELS AT CUSTOMS WORKING HARD OMG 😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤RESPECT TO ALL LIVES
Bad manners??? Putting it mildly; most of them are like that.
Good job
I know they are doing their job, but over the top paranoia. Coming over to see if the educational college is bona fide and not a scam, does not constitute an immigration breach. The mainland and overseas ethnic Chinese value education. They look highly educated middle class, unlikely they will work illegally in a restaurant. A few years ago there were many questionable colleges in Australia and were later closed down by authorities.
Whatever they are, they're rude and self entitled. I'd like to see them do this in China.
I feel they could just say that then, instead of being hostile and cagey towards the border agents. “I’m coming to see the local culture and a visit a few of the major universities for my own personal research, as I am considering studying abroad some years in the future, but I want to know if I like it here first as a tourist. I may choose to study in a different country if I find it’s not a good fit.” Polite transparency won’t draw nearly as much suspicion as being abrasive and rude.
@CaterpillarFriend In an ideal world being so upfront and transparent is the corrrect way of doing things. But this is normal human defensive behaviour, you become defensive when asked personal questions by officials. Custom and immigration officials are intimidating and not friendly either. I have never come across an official with a warm smile with open arms " G'day mate, how are ya?". It just does not happen because of the nature of their job. It is very easy to comment these ladies should have behaved in a better way. For every action there is a reaction. I am not saying the officials are wrong, they are doing their job, but you have to understand in the context of natural human behaviour also known as psychology.
Good work and looking lovely lady ❤️
To be fair, when you are visiting a new country for just a week, you won’t know what to see. Also, nothing wrong with bringing your laptop. Some people do it to research stuff.
Graduate in new Zealand but cant even speak english well. What course they took? Janitorial service?
😅
I live in Australia, and there was this cashier at a malatang shop who can’t even speak English well enough.
Rude students? How about racially profiling every Asian and African coming.
Surprise! Rude people come in all races & colors. Are only white people to be stopped? Nevermind, I know your answer.
Ya .
Illegal border security force
Do not know why they think every citizen is criminal ?
Criminal is dirty game for all security force
😊
Don’t interrupt (students)
Our youth has become so rude
i think this kind of behaviour should be punishable and prosecution
They can't say 'happy ending' and 'boom boom' as purpose of visit.
You would think they would have prepared a good story not just hope for the best.😂
M'landers are truly a different kettle of fish.
Their probably the 2 that ran us off the road driving on the wrong side in Geelong then carried on like we were at fault 😮
If Im the officer I told her to Shut up. I work here you Not

No shut up .
Why you harassing any country citizen .
Security Office is set up criminal power .😂😂😂
Imagine showing this behaviour in China, you simply go missing!
These custom officers are acting like CID's

She shouldn't have to plan anything. I travel to various places and just do whatever or nothing
I'm on vacation
That's you. China sends people here to investigate and send info back.
Border security force alls are criminal behaviour and they only do that handcuff for citizens hand .that the matter
Turns out border force was wrong. Waste of everyone's time.
So you hassled two girls for hours and for nothing. Make them feel bad for not having toiletries and clothing they likely but in Australia. Welcome to our country!
Possibly, but have they returned. we have a large number of people coming in, and then don’t leave.
Cancel the vesa
Like law enforcement is nicer in China lol
You got to be agreeable to customs, no matter which country you are going to.
Fair play, at least Australia still has border security. If these people lived in the UK, they would all be out of work.
