Why does everybody think the judge has got no idea what she's doing? And for the sentence: the longer the better-- regardless! ? She provides for parole-- doesn't mean the defendant will be awarded parole. This judge can't know what will have happened 30 years from now.

    • @showkitties3844

@@amberspaulding You know why everyone thinks this Judge let Quinton down? Because Leilani & her mother got what they *wanted* … granting the wishes of the woman who m*rdered her child, & the grandmother who failed him in *every* way possible… does not 🟰 justice served. The Judge wouldn’t have to worry abt what happens in 30yrs if Leilani never had a chance of getting out in the first place.

@@EmilysDismantlingDelulus I don't think so because my understanding is that the 10 years run concurrent with the life with parole. When a sentence "runs concurrently" it means that if a person is convicted of multiple crimes, they will serve all of their sentences at the same time, essentially only serving the longest sentence imposed, rather than serving each sentence one after the other.

So.. You think 40 years with parole is worth little help less a Child's life, you and people like you are the reason people like her continue this behavior because you will take a sentence like this and believe it's okay. If you look at her face she is happy with the outcome she is slightly smiling because it wasn't a life sentence, do you think she should be able to smile? This judge spent time trying to sound cute instead of really expressing to this girl what she has done. 40 years is not enough

I wish they had in all cases like this in every state, there was mandatory evaluation and testimony from a clinical psychologist who specializes in diagnosis of personality disorders. There are way too many Cluster B (Narcissistic, Borderline, Histrionic) as well as others such as Antisocial who are getting away with more lenient sentences because they know how to play on a person's empathy response by crying or looking like "poor me, I'm depressed", or "the drugs made me do it", etc. The wanting to smoke weed afterwards was enough to know she never loved her son. Lack of empathy is at the top of the list of traits when dealing with these a-holes.
