Have very fond memories of the Heathcote railway station. Our ancestors/old Aunties lived in Ebden Street Heathcote. We would travel by car to Heathcote every few weeks and stay at their house. My girlfriend and I would spend a lot of time in and around the station. Have a memory where someone was travelling up from Melbourne and we went to meet them at the Heathcote railway station.
Thanks so much for your fine video Richard, it brings back memories of my parent's and my travels from Albury to Bendigo when I was very young? We would get a train to Seymour and then take the 8 door long car across through Tooboorac and Heathcote on to Bendigo, it was a wonderful adventure? Cheers ❤
somebody using google satellite to show old railway lines --great-- now can someone do brisbane -fernvale-yarraman------an also brisbane-samford-daydoro----looking forward for them in the future
If we had the foresight back then lines like Heathcote or Kew in inner Melbourne had been kept then Melbourne and Victoria would be far better off now as far as meeting needed transport infrastructure that the government now is spending billions on and knowing all that hard work and many blisters involved in constructing all those long lost railway lines went to waste
Rather poor Google Earth pics; normal satellite pictures are better. And why did you ignore the magnificent trestle bridge at Pyalong, which is between Kilmore and Heathcote? FWIW, one of the last trains on that line was for the filming of a food commercial, which I think was Rice-a-Riso.
I remember seeing a K Class and a train of red carriages being filmed on the Healesville line beyond Yarra Glen for an advertisement. Could that be what you are remembering? Either way, it's a great pity that these lines are gone.

Thanks for sharing your memories.
Thank you, Richard. These are the only photos I've ever seen of this line. Great history.
If the line was still open, it will make a good heritage railway👍
Agreed
Nah it should be V/Line

Great video with great photos from the day. The line continued through to Bendigo via Axedale, didn't it?

We tried to tell them that at the time but we had no hope.(farmer).
@davidmartin1015 what a shame they didn't listen to you and obviously the politicians still haven't changed and don't listen
Also Warburton, Mornington and Whittlesea, all would be suburban rail corridors now.
