- Had a bit of fun painting a more or less monochromatic piece with the new Aquadrop liquid watercolors by Schmincke. How do they look? How do they perform? And while we are at it I explain some techniques that help me constantly with my artwork.

What happend to Laovaan? 2 videos in a week? Is he ok 😂?
If you missed my april fools ua-cam.com/video/SCbZxh6CV6U/v-deo.html 😏
Hi, nice to see you're still active; could you make a video about hair in watercolor ? That would be very helpful
HAHA is quarantine treating you well?
In April everything is April fool's .. especially this video where he's not laughing or talking about April fool's .
itsss quarantine and that you finished your comic as well! xD
@@testardstephane7143 I agree you and even I need to learn about watercolor painting specially in hairs😋
Color: *bleeds into skin*
Laovaan: So you have chosen death?
😂😂
This character is adorable, I love the design. It's always refreshing to see someone paint semi-realism with a dash of anime thrown in to spice up the visual appeal!
It is really nice to see an artist who uses watercolour with more softness instead of edges
Everyone always says watercolors are to be used in patches and I was always like "no I like to do soft edges" and now I see my style of watecolor is similar to yours! That makes me SO happy, you are an inspiration 😄
"With watercolors you need to be fast"
yeah... that explains why i know how to draw only with colored pencils...
oils might be suited for you, if you ever want to paint
Have you tried watercolor pencils
@@SoftBreadSoft i have, and even have tried great watercolour pencils but I still like the regular better
Your references to gradients and shading was fantastically helpful, along with the rest of the video. I'm so grateful for your channel, you're amazing!
Love the result Laovaan!
Watercolor inks are interesting. I might give it a try!
Well done.
I have the basic set and two extra colors. But haven't had the time to work with them, just tried them a little bit. I like them. And awesome for an airbrush!
Beautiful art as always x
This tutorial was both interesting to watch and incredibly helpful to learn from. Thank you for your amazing work!!
Long time no see! I really love the painting; your art is always so polished and vibrant. It's tempting for me to get pigment-based liquid watercolors like this, but I always end up working with Ecoline.
You're watercolour genius! Fantastic picture!!! I was waiting for something like this long time!!!
omg thank you for that useful advice that I have been searching for such a long time
Very cool ☺️ never would have thought about how watercolours are dealt with so this helps a lot ty ☺️
Thank you for sharing your talent - and humor
AHHHHHH I LOVE YOUR ART STYLE ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Have you tried Dr. Ph. Martins watercolors?
I started with watercolors and got disappointed with results...
But still I really wanna try this piece😊 it's good that u r back..
Beautiful ❤❤❤
I just found your channel. Love it!
Awesome😍💕
Awesome 😊👍
Até que enfim em laovaan já faz 84 anos, quero mais videos por favor 😍😍😍😍😢😢😢
very useful review/tutorial :) If I do come across some of these after we are allowed out I will def pick up a few to try
Mind-blowing 🤯🤯🤯
I just love your art ♥️😍
unbelievable!
I love the blue I love the magenta and I have always used drop watercolor. Starting with Dr pH Martin's hydrous watercolor I used to use it in my healing process after my mother died. And then one day not long ago my daughter said Mama why don't you start using a brush and so began my journey into brush research and which ones would be the best for those kinds of watercolors that I was using. I also saw ashiyart on UA-cam and I loved her pictures and she used ecoline. I loved whatever e coli was and it was watercolor it was drop watercolor but you just defined the difference between the kind of color I was using with Dr pH Martin's which I believe is pigment-based and the Econoline and these that you were using are dye based or what I like to call ink. I love them both and surprisingly my Econoline color will mix with ph Martin's on the page and all of that research has brought me to you. I was researching mop brushes and it brought me to that video you just did on the $140 brush and it was kind of the way that I was thinking too it looks just like all of the rest and apparently holds the water just like a cheaper version of it so thank you for the that video as well for being brave to spend that kind of money on that kind of brush and showing us in video that there really is no difference and so anyway I like that new drop color you used I haven't seen yet what country you're in and if it's only available to you and your country. I'm hoping I should be able to get it at blick arts materials or hopefully Amazon I'll look in both places but thank you for this video it is very enlightening and very informed and informative and thank you for showing me yet another technique.
it is very nice
Hiiiiiiii!!!!!
Is my first time here early (?)
Sorry for my bad english :c
Love uuuuuuu!!!!! ❤
Love ur art!!!!! ❤
Love your work =) awesome job!
Could you please do a "how to draw fingers tutorial" please it'll really help
Yes agree
What is that question ? 😅U mean hands ?
@@balajiv12a32Heh yeh that's Whhat I meant 😂. Bad English 😂 😂
@@annonamous well if u want serious how to draw hands tutorial then I recommend u watch Proko hand drawing tips ,it will take months to master just like any other art , if ur asking a fun tip as a hobbyist I recommend u to observe ur's and others hands and break then into simple shapes and cylinders to understand how to draw easily(my simple idea ) trust me its worth it we can't just draw perfect hands in one go ,it's months and years of practicing , the artist u admire don't learn to draw overnight or became a pro at drawing with just one drawing they failed a lot and learnt it for years that's why they r able to do it don't compare to others, compare with it old art :)
@@balajiv12a32 Aww thanks a lot for this sweet advice. I agree references are important and comparing yourself to other will lead to no good. Thanks a lot. I'll be sure to check out proko I love their content. Love you
I just woke up and this kinda made my day so thanks a lot.
How does the water not smudge your pencil sketch underneath? D:
Maybe its because I use B/HB pencils, but I am not sure because my sketch never smudged with water :"D maybe it's because I apply the color lightly...I really dont know 😅
You can try adding a very thin layer of graphite fixer to avoid that. Or make the drawing underneath with only H pencils.
the harder the pencils are, the less they'll smudge when wet
Macht ihr bald mal wieder eine Live stream? Ich vermiss die so! Lg

Can you draw usui takumi??? I love so much your art😍🤗💫💖
I love this colors! I've paint a galaxy with this drops and it's beautiful. This magenta with blue, it's a brilliant purple. Or blue with yellow ....
When we can buy Horodams or Aquarell Drops in your Shop? Stay strong and healthy!
How long is long enough for layers to dry?
Can u do a tutorial on procreate
I have a question if you don't mind, I've been watching you for a while now not from this acc tho but yea, I always wonder how you keep the skin color or the color itself smooth, I always try to imitate you but the skin ends up w a lot of texture and kind of crumbly while you keep it really smooth, can I know how?
Aah I'm so broke rn 😪🤣. I work with 40 years old watercolor
C J that’s cool , where did u get them ??
Good tutorial and the piece turn out pretty 0.0
Magenta and Cyan would have been perfect for Lore Olympus fan art! Have you considered drawing Persephone and Hades for a video?
I cant do watercolor. Im too impatient
Hi
...NORA
I'm no watercolor expert but I think the quality of your water colors will affect their ability to layer
Laovaan, if you don't heart this comment, art block shall rain down upon you!
No one cares
@@aidanmuller3358 well your a no one so your opinion doesn't matter :)
@Arianna Chavez then dont reply ;/
Uff....
@@clixflix610 Neither does yours. 🖕
When the hair color bled into the skin it looked like one of those cool corrupted characters.
I need to improve my watercolor art so much so that I may become a watercolor god😂✨😎🔥🤙
Good luck
Omg I missed you so much 💓 You are basically my favourite artist :D
Another great tutorial and artwork! Thanks for the great help! I've been interested in these aqua drops and now I'm convinced! Definitely going to pick a few up!
She kinda looks like a female Yusuke from persona 5 and I am LIVING for it! Awesome job!
😍😍😍👌🏻😭
The blues and lightweight pigment particles work well with traditional heavy earth granulating watercolours etc to make beautiful separating washes, a little like schmincke forest colours or Daniel smith moonglow etc.
When Princess Mononoke and Bubblegum fused:
Your advice is so good and clear which can be applied to watercolour too
OMG this was so relaxing, i slept away :D and now awake, but no worries i heard everything while my eyes were shut :3
Question. *Is it cyan or compression*
Lovely results=3
What a striking contrast!
You amazing at anime
She got pink eye 😂

You should try Dr. Ph Martins watercolors and inks they stay super vibrant and are Lightfast 😉
I never thought I would enough watching this but I really do. Sehr schoen!
Thia painting is sooo beautiful. Well done!
I'm in love with this drawing 😍💗❤️💕💞💙😁👌😊👍! It's so pretty. I wish I was as good as you, but I'm still learning to draw. But good job 👍👏👌😊😂! Keep it up 👍😁👌😊! Lol! Have a nice day!
Finished result with a professional is a fabulous detailed piece of are in the hands of a complete novice like me complete desaturate so I know I shall not try these for a long time yet ,even you had slight hiccups with them..But you corrected and she’s Beautiful 😀
So, did you premix just for the convenience, or does something make them stain like Colorex does? The quick staining is the only thing I don't care for with dye based inks, so maybe these would be nice to try..? :3
And I was so proud of my watercolour penguin-sphynx thingy drawing... It's an abomination in comparison ;-; Oh well back to the drawing board as they say.
I don't usually comment on videos but i've been going trough tough times and that channel as been my little dirty pleasure for months now, and i've learned so much about art. And as i was discovering more and more about it, i started to learn more about myself and how to express my self trough that media, but the most valuable lesson that i've learn was that everybody can better themselfs ,as an artist of course but as a person, as well, so from the bottom of my heart thank you. I'll be forever grateful.
this was exactly what I needed rn! I recognized your channel yesterday, and I instantly fell in love, guess there are many ideas hidden here for my future art journal pages! :D Thank you for this great tutorial
Gorgeous! I love how you layer the color to build more shadows! I would be so impatient waiting for areas to dry, lol! I would have to try out Olivia de Berardinis' method of using a hair dryer in between coats of paint. My guess is to use the dryer on cooler air so the paper doesn't buckle.
Im just starting to get into water colour more right now, and I was looking for tutorials. I came across your channel and it only took me 3 videos to subscribe to you. Thank you for sharing.
I def need to work on my lighting understanding. That’s what holds me back the most.
That I want a block sketch book eventually so I don’t have to tape it down constantly
Its sooo great so see you posting again! And more than that, to know that youre doing fine! Keep safe, love from philippines!😊
Es is jedesmal einfach hammer entspannend dir beim malen zu zusehen. Wieder ein wunderschönes Bild geworden , hoffe ich kann eines tages auch so gut Malen und Zeichnen :)
I know this is not related to the video but did he ever make that webcomic?
He did, it's called Big Bad Wolf and the first third of it is on Webtoons
Echolox omg thank you so much cause I never followed up with it and wanted to know so baaad 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😘
Gradient of red and blue in some parts would make it feel more natural
💖💖💖 Magenta is such a beautiful color..
Wow such a beautiful art!!! ✨✨✨✨
Definitely will try them out in the future x3
beautiful work!😍👏❤
Laovaan: exsists
Me: is that you sensei?
Ugh, your work is perfect 😍
7:30 so pretty °-°
I love the artwork
This is so helpful thank you! (3
This is amazing, now I want to try!
It's so beautiful
Laovaan: like contouring, like applying makeup
Me: *when does contour looks like a dirty potato*
Fantastisch

My biggest problem is: The paper always dissolves under too much water...
And yes I use watercolor paper. Maybe it is just my opinion that I hate the texture that it creates...
What brand of paper are you using?
@@nerdieone1 Hahnemühle Britannia 300g/m^2
I wanted to try them but then I found out they aren't vegan and as I don't support animals being killed or harmed I didn't got them eventually. but they look nice though but not needed if already having a good quality watercolours unless it helps the artists in a way watercolour pans or tubes don't.
