The late 80s transition into the early 90s was a special time to be a kid. It was unique. One movie that really captures that period is The Wizard with Fred Savage.
@emjay6482 yeah I feel like that also, seems like something changed after 1995..can't quite put my finger on it, but something shifted..probably just me..
You can't do that on television was one of my all-time favorites growing up as a kid. Imagine trying to do a skit with kids standing up to a firing squad nowadays LOL
Kids Incorporated I remember but didn't really watch. My brothers and I loved You Can't Do that on television! My mom loved Moonlighting, nice theme song. I liked it also. Thanks Kurt this was so fun! Please do some more!👍😎💜
I loved Kids Inc and MMC. I wish so bad they would put them on DVD. So glad you mentioned You Can't Do That On Television. That show was great!! No one ever mentions it.
4:00 I totally remember the first ER bc I remember when the one in the 90s came out I was thinking how there already was a show called "ER" . I watched Supermarket Sweep and I LOVED LOVED LOVED watching Moonlighting with my mom . Moonlighting was the birth of the office ladies bringing their running shoes to work . Kicking off their Heels come 12pm lol . I wish that we could just request any show on DVD . That Kids Incorporated flashback made my day lol I think "You Can't Do This On Television" was my favorite though . It was on my Nickelodeon lineup after Double Dare . Great video as always 👍💯
Did they make a show out of that same book series? I read all the books! I didn't know there was a show! Like the bully was Bugs Meany, and he was always up to no good lying and scamming and you the reader would have to watch for the clues?
Great show and unlike a lot of the sitcoms from that time it actually holds up. It was probably too ahead of its time for network TV audiences. Clever satire wasn't what got eyeballs on screens in 1985.
Loved Sledge Hammer. Was shown on late night tv here in the UK. Around 23.30 on Fridays. Bought the Anchor Bay set then upon hearing of a German Blu Ray complete series set I had to import it.
7:42: I wish I knew what a summertime Southern California vibe was like. I know what I imagine it would feel like from watching TV shows and movies, but I wish I knew what it was like IRL. It would be interesting if it was totally different (but still great), but it would be even more interesting if it was kind of like what I imagine it would be like (because that would mean that somehow the movies and TV shows were able to accurately convey that kind of very ephemeral thing).
KUUUUUUUURRRTTTTT....LOVE KURT! Best dude on UA-cam. If it was still like the 1980s or 1990s with major broadcast networks, and I was an executive, I would want to hire you to do a show just like what you do on UA-cam. Whatever you're talking about , it's great.
In 1984 the one and only season of "it's your move" aired starring a very young Jason Bateman. They pulled it because parents were worried their kids would copy the shenanigans of Bateman's character. Basically it was about him battling with his mother's boyfriend who also is the apartment building that they live ins super. the boyfriend is the same actor that played Marcy's first husband on "married with children". I loved the show as a 10yr old and I recently watched it again and it still held up. I actually think I enjoyed it more now. Anyway, not sure if you've covered this show but if not, it's a great candidate for one of these videos. I love your content, appreciate your hard work and dedication. Thanks for keeping our childhoods alive! The 80s were awesome!
I remember every single one of these shows. I soooooo wish Kids Incorporated would come on DVD! I wasn't really into MMC that much though. These videos bring out happiness and sadness. Happiness because of the good memories and sadness because I wanna go back to that time soooooo BAD!!!¡
Now that was a fun video. Remembered all those shows. My wife and I thought we were the only ones who remembered that there was an earlier version of ER starring a very young George Clooney.
One of my favorite line, that I still use, is from Moonlighting. There was an episode where the office workers went on strike and kept chanting” No work and pay, No work and pay”. Great show. Loved Sledge Hammer, completely forgot about it.
My after school show was Edison Twins, well it was on once a week. The other days had shows like Danger Bay, Wonderstruck, and a couple more I can’t remember. I think Edison Twins was Wednesday. You can’t do that on television was Saturday mornings
I do remember loving "Teen Win Lose or Draw" as well. "Sledge Hammer" was hilarious. My dad and I watched that one together. Started watching some of the eps last year on youtube. "Kids Incorporated" was another I enjoyed. Never watched MMC. Watched YCDTOT a lot.
I used to watch Supermarket Sweep all the time when I was a teenager, I think I was 17 or 18 year old? And I used to love sledgehammer! It actually had its own comic book back in the day!.. But who remembers up all night with Rhonda Shear ❤on USA Network⁉️ LOL, now that was the good old days‼️
I remember almost all these, I didn't know about the first E.R. And yup I had Cable TV in the 80's You can't do that on television was my fav. kids program in the early 80's. but by 82 on I was getting into the older gen programs, knight rider,A team. my fav. tv show of all time in 84 AIRWOLF. 1989 I was a teenager but still watched some of these shows. Now you answered a question I have been thinking about for years but never researched cause wasn't that important, I knew Fergie was on a tv show from my younger days but I couldn't for the life of me remember what show. you answered it. YAY
One of my favorite shows from the 80s is Werewolf, from 1987. Do you remember that one? So good. It only lasted a season. Has a great Halloween episode you can find on YT sometimes, too. The only show on this video I'd forgotten about was ER-but the moment I heard the theme song, I remembered. Moonlighting was super popular among the adults, and a favorite of my mom's. But while I loved You Can't Do That On Television, I couldn't stand Kids, Inc- that one was a favorite of my little sister, so it was on at every change. Might have had to do with my age, I was 14 when Kids, Inc., came out.
Amazon Prime had streamable seasons of "You Can't Do That on Television" for sale for about $8 each. I remember a contest in 1986 to win an appearance on the show and get slimed. I don't think I have ever seen an episode of "Moonlighting" but I bought a DVD set a few years ago and still haven't watched it. Meanwhile, I watch episodes of "Remington Steele" all the time. "KIDS Incorporated" episodes have been on UA-cam but I haven't watched in a while. I recall not really following it as it was the time when the cartoons would end on Saturday mornings.
WOW. What a GREAT Expose.... So many things I didn't know... Loved it all... You are 10 years younger than me... So most things you watched were when I stopped watching TV... Cause I was out chasing wild women. Than I got a Serious girlfriend.. so You help me see what was going on...LOVED E.R. info. Didn't know about Anthony Gould... How COOL .. It was ALL SO COOL. GREAT JOB.....!!!!
I never knew about that version of ER, it looked like a great show and I love Elliott Gould!... I had no idea Booger aka Snot from American Dad was on Moonlighting lol
"You Can't do That on Television" had some funny moments. I liked the family sketch they would do where the Father was this absolutely disheveled, lazy, fat, drunken slob with his shirts always half tucked in. He was played by the same guy who did Barth. Great stuff! Hoping next you'll do one about maybe some forgotten cartoons like Foofur, Cro, Pirates of Dark Water?
Fast Times premiered in March, Sledgehammer premiered in Sept (1986). Technically, I think Fast Times was Oingo Boingo's (Elfman's) first TV theme song.
Kids Incorporated was actually syndicated for the first two seasons. I remember it seeing it on Saturday mornings on one of the local independent stations in Denver where I lived. I never knew until much later it went to Disney. We never had cable tv when I was a kid, let alone a premium channel. Renee was a cutie for sure.
Loved these shows! I also liked to watch a show called "Small Wonder" when I was a kid in the 80s. Dies anyone remember a show called "Werewolf " that came on fix in the 80s ?? I Loved that show but doesn't seem to be much available online about it..
We didn't have Disney channel so I have no recollection of those but the You Can't Do That on Television intro immediately brought flashbacks of things I hadn't thought about in well over 27 or so years. Loved that show. One show I remember from the 80s that's kind of obscure involved a mannequin in a department store that came to life after the store closed for the night. Think it was called Today's Special or something like that. Watched that with my mom and little brother a lot
Moonlighting was a good show, came on ABC back in the 80s. Kids Incorporated came on Saturday mornings in the early 80s ,however didn't know Jennifer Love Hewitt was on there. There was another show on HBO in the 80s was called Not Necessarily The News. Can't remember if it was geared for kids but some of the skits were hilarious...
Crazy how for some I don't remember the actual show, but vividly 'member the intro montage. Like 'You Can't Do that on TV'; I had déjà vu flashbacks watching that illustration sequence, but not a clue what the show was about.
The ONLY one I really remember is Moonlighting (my ex-godmother would watch it; do you remember Remington Steele too; I do via my godmother) the rest of shows (we did not have Cable TV - my relatives did) we just had a dumb plug-in-the-wall TV as well!!
A show no one ever mentions is The Charmings, it was a Disney production based on Snow White and Prince Charming being put to sleep for 1,000 years by the evil queen and waking up in present day Burbank, California.
My favorite episode of Sledge Hammer was when the crime lab discovered how to lift prints off of a powdered doughnut, for a very important Case. Unbeknownst to Hammer, he picks it up and eats it then he walks into the Cheifs office casually eating it and the Chief gets pissed off and yells “ HAMMER”
There was this 80s TV adventure series that is somewhat a knockoff of Indiana Jones. The series was called Tales of the Gold Monkey and it starred Stephen Collins, who was known for his role in 7th Heaven. It's about a former fighter pilot who now runs the air cargo delivery. The series lasted only season with 22 episodes. The series is worth checking out for anyone who is thirsty for a swashbuckling adventure in search of a legendary artifact.
I loved "You can't do that on television"! I hardly ever see anyone talk about it.
Yes. No one speaks much on it. It was a HUGE PART. of the BEGINNING of CABLE T.V. in AMERICA...
I liked the family sketch with the fat, drunken Father with his shirt half tucked in. Same guy who played Barth.
PARKER LEWIS CANT LOSE was one of my fave short lived TV shows, as well as SQUARE PEGS, REAL PEOPLE, THATS INCREDIBLE!
The 80's, best decade ever for movies and music........
The late 80s transition into the early 90s was a special time to be a kid. It was unique. One movie that really captures that period is The Wizard with Fred Savage.
Gimme gimme gimme...Jimmy Woods!
We had the last true great childhood. Kids can’t just be kids anymore.
So true ! I've always felt the 80s Bled into the 90s up until 1993
@@emjay6482 Yeah it was a great time. Today’s world is a complete mess. It’s such a shame.
I was also a 10 year old who enjoyed the show "Moonlighting" ABC was an amazing channel and still is!

One of my favorite 80's shows from my childhood that is extremely hard to find is "Encyclopedia Brown". Loved this show as a kid.
Did they make a show out of that same book series? I read all the books! I didn't know there was a show! Like the bully was Bugs Meany, and he was always up to no good lying and scamming and you the reader would have to watch for the clues?
LOVED LOVED LOVED Sledgehammer. Still watch it
Great show and unlike a lot of the sitcoms from that time it actually holds up. It was probably too ahead of its time for network TV audiences. Clever satire wasn't what got eyeballs on screens in 1985.
Just out of the 80s, came out in 1990 was "Get a Life" with Chris Elliott. One of the funniest shows I have ever seen.
It was great! I was mad when they canceled it
I never knew there was another ER and with George Clooney wow great video Kurt 👍
You Can’t Do That on Television😃What a show & thanks so much for jarring my mind!
Kids incorporated was my favorite 🤩
The Moonlighting theme was written and preformed by jazz great Al Jarreau.
Loved Sledgehammer, I would watch at around 5 pm after school. Also, the song to YCDTOT is so nostalgic.
I remember all these shows....damn I feel old now. Thanks for bringing our childhood times back. 😊
Loved Sledge Hammer.
Was shown on late night tv here in the UK.
Around 23.30 on Fridays.
Bought the Anchor Bay set then upon hearing of a German Blu Ray complete series set I had to import it.
Gotta luv them 80's and90's baby!💯😮🙂💖🔥❤️!

I used to Waycross ER the sitcom... always liked it. Found it on UA-cam... downloading it now to re-watch.
I've been rewatching Moonlighting again on Hulu. LOVE IT! I also wonder why I watched this as a kid. lol. My parents enjoyed it a lot.
Green slime and if you said Water Water would be dumped on you

I loved 'Moonlighting'. Long after the series ended I named my cat 'Maddie Hays'.
Now that was a fun video. Remembered all those shows. My wife and I thought we were the only ones who remembered that there was an earlier version of ER starring a very young George Clooney.
How about MTV's Remote Control and Kevin Seal; Sporting Fool
Moonlighting and You Can't Do That on Television are heavy memories of the 80's for me.
One of my favorite line, that I still use, is from Moonlighting. There was an episode where the office workers went on strike and kept chanting” No work and pay, No work and pay”. Great show. Loved Sledge Hammer, completely forgot about it.
Kurt, awesome video. I would love to see more of these types of videos. And maybe one’s about 80’s technology.
Kids Inc was my favorite and still is! There's a UA-cam channel dedicated to it and they've remastered alot of the episodes to rewatch.
My mom used to love to watch the Lawrence Welk Show and Perry Mason, very old school.
You Can't Do That On Television was my go to after school show in the mid 80's.
My after school show was Edison Twins, well it was on once a week. The other days had shows like Danger Bay, Wonderstruck, and a couple more I can’t remember. I think Edison Twins was Wednesday.
You can’t do that on television was Saturday mornings
Moonlighting I remember that TV show I used to watch it a lot when I was a kid and it had my favorite artist Al Jarreau singing the theme song
At 4, I was well aware of the debut of sledge hammer. Waited all week. Saw the ads during general hospital.
holy crap, as a 80s Canadian kid I had no idea You Can't Do That on Television ever appeared outside of this country haha.
80 Tv show Love my favorite one fan BIG 💖💖💖💖⭐️⭐️⭐️
I do remember loving "Teen Win Lose or Draw" as well. "Sledge Hammer" was hilarious. My dad and I watched that one together. Started watching some of the eps last year on youtube. "Kids Incorporated" was another I enjoyed. Never watched MMC. Watched YCDTOT a lot.
Sledge Hammer and Moonlighting went international. Never saw the other shows but we had identical local shows 😄
I used to watch Supermarket Sweep all the time when I was a teenager, I think I was 17 or 18 year old? And I used to love sledgehammer! It actually had its own comic book back in the day!.. But who remembers up all night with Rhonda Shear ❤on USA Network⁉️ LOL, now that was the good old days‼️

I remember an 80s show called Just Our Luck with TK Carter. Very short lived and they showed it here in the UK around 1985
Another great series in the 90’s was Night Stand with Dick Dietrick. I believe it was in E Channel.
I have no recollection of the first ER. Nice pull.
I never knew about that version of ER, it looked like a great show and I love Elliott Gould!... I had no idea Booger aka Snot from American Dad was on Moonlighting lol
I loved Moonlighting. I watched it from 85-89
"You Can't do That on Television" had some funny moments. I watched sledgehammer and Hunter because my dad liked it! The ones that were hard to watch was MaSH and Bonanza lol
KIDS Incorporated ruled. Don’t forget Ryan Lambert from The Monster Squad! 🤘🏻
Misfits of Science and Automan were great shows
Trust me. I know what I'm doing. Capt. Trunk - HAMMERRRRRR!!!!!!!!
We didn't have Disney channel so I have no recollection of those but the You Can't Do That on Television intro immediately brought flashbacks of things I hadn't thought about in well over 27 or so years. Loved that show.

Wally George was a silly, but fun show.
Moonlighting was a good show, came on ABC back in the 80s. Kids Incorporated came on Saturday mornings in the early 80s ,however didn't know Jennifer Love Hewitt was on there. Here ln Australia we got 2 of those shows Moonlighting and Sledgehammer
Crazy how for some I don't remember the actual show, but vividly 'member the intro montage. Like 'You Can't Do that on TV'; I had déjà vu flashbacks watching that illustration sequence, but not a clue what the show was about.
I forgot about Kids Incorporated. I wanted to be in that group so bad when I was a kid lol.
Kids incorporated... Hells yeah!
I remember sledgehammer he slept with his gun under his pillow lol.
The ONLY one I really remember is Moonlighting (my ex-godmother would watch it; do you remember Remington Steele too; I do via my godmother) the rest of shows (we did not have Cable TV - my relatives did) we just had a dumb plug-in-the-wall TV as well!!
Dope
I’ve seen supermarket sweep reruns at my cousins it’s fun to watch
* forgotten about
❤@This. That 80s guy did you do the Wonder years filming locations yet?
I loved Moonlighting at the same age. 9 in 89
Where that blue tiki head cartoon from? It looks so familiar. Right next to the garbage pail kids.
Most of these do not ring a bell. I must have been busy hanging out with my friends at the mall trying to get beer for the evening.
My wife said next time don't forget Ghost Writer.
Love ya... forgotten.
A show no one ever mentions is The Charmings, it was a Disney production based on Snow White and Prince Charming being put to sleep for 1,000 years by the evil queen and waking up in present day Burbank, California.

Stuart Gordon of Re-Animator fame created that ER

The only shows I heard of was the new Micky Mouse Club, Sledgehammer, and Moonlighting but I did not watch any of them.
I remember Moonlighting, but bet Bruce Willis doesn't. Goodnight, everyone!! Tip your waitress.
He would get around in a broken-down plane called Cutter's Goose. He would also face danger with dangerous animals and fight off Nazi forces in the quest to find the fabled Gold Monkey statue somewhere in the South Pacific. The series lasted only season with 22 episodes. The series is worth checking out for anyone who is thirsty for a swashbuckling adventure in search of a legendary artifact.
Ah I remember seeing Kids Incorporated and marveling at Martika, who is my age. At 17 in 1986 the show wasn't of particular interest to me.
Remember the Gong Show?
