    Excellent, fascinating discussion of the range of possibilities of what life can be

      As Thoreau said, "Only the wise improve upon their advantages" in current society. The rest, well, "lead lives of quiet desperation."

    I can tell you of one useful skill the elderly should acquire in order to stay relevant/useful with the younger generations: Playing games. My grandfather was around 70 years old (grandma 20 years younger) when I started playing dominoes with him at age 12. I would visit my grandparents at least once a week just to get a game in & help them out from time to time. Furthermore, countless family members (incl my grandparent's nieces & nephews) would visit every week to spend time with them, & of course, get some games in. Even now my grandma is still highly competitive at 90 years old; she trash talks n all lol.

    For me Jared is second only to Darwin. His Guns, Germs and Steel have a wealth of information about Evolution of societies/civilization and environmental factors. In fact Jared co-relates Darwin's Evolution theory with Environment in a way, where at least I am forced to consider Jared's contribution to Evolution theory more than Darwin's....

    so true and very interesting. I find that our young of today are far less skilled at life skilles because of the vast electronic devices avalable to them and that the young are akso iss equipped to care for their own young because of the lack of maturity. They are unable and some unwilling because of the need to provide financially fior their babies but also because of the inexperience of dealing with infants.We are a nation of headstrong , immature,ill equipped young persons who prefer to

      Young people being immature is such a myth. My generation and younger are so much more mature than the generations before us because we actually had the opportunity to grow and be who we want to be as well the access to information and conversations the generation before us never had. Your generation and the generation before you were children trapped in adult bodies who took out their poor mental health on their children instead. We’re just free from the burdens of the past that’s all

    doesn't seem to be moving in a positive direction. We are constantly bombarded with hidden checmicals in our food and water supplies and the rate of illnesses and diseases are becoming more evident as the years go by. We can only hope the the newer generations realize the need for change and instruct the young accordinglky so that future generations will rise above what is left of this world we live in.

    act upon feelings and impulses without the slightess thought of consequences for out actions. The old are unable to properly help with their grands as they are often unhealthy, overwhelmed by many babies and unwilling to tackle a task that may have repurcussions. bad children who cause fires, attack and verbally abuse the elderly etc. the ongoing mental state of our citizens is also a problem to be dealt with. I feel sad at the way society has changed since "I" was a child and how it

    Every society offers each generation a time to change what they don't like. By not making those changes, each generation chooses to live within its rules. Sad, but comprimises have to be made. "C'est la vie".

    the answers may differ depending on at what stage you consider a human a human. homoerectus and what not, i dont believe are considered not to be human. homo sapien and homo sapien sapien are the only 2 considered human i think.

    13:50 the example you name is not right. They depict young people to attract them to their product among various other reasons.

    • @deithlan
      @deithlan 2 роки тому

      This comment is three years old, but still wrong. His comment still applies, because the aim is younger people. If the aim was older people, or everyone, they would depict everyone. And the fact that only younger people are depicted is the example he criticizes.

    I stopped watching after 3:18 where he says "Humans have constituted a separate line of evolution for about 6 million years". Google "How long have humans been around " to learn the truth.

    • @brucethedruid
      @brucethedruid 7 років тому +9

      Magic Man Dave research at point in the line of human evolution became "human". he didn't say how long humans have been around...he stated when the line of human evolution diverged from the primates. two different questions.
