Without doubt the best set I’ve ever heard in my entire life….you’ve made a 47 year old man who’s listened to “dance “ music since I was 14 a very very happy man,4 kids,a wife a dog and a mortgage….it’s a phenomenal escape…thank you very much mr voorn …take a bow🙏🏻
Great set. I used to have so many of these tracks on vinyl until I started smoking heroin & crack & sold them & about 400 more for €1 each when I was desperate for drugs. So upset with myself! Anyway, I'm off heroin 2 years & crack 8 weeks & I'm never going back on either. I've saved up €840 in the last few months to get my 1210's fixed & start buying tunes again. Stay away from drugs people, they're nothing but bad news. Peace.
That moment you're at work, headphones in, bopping away to some funky old stuff, and you suddenly hear the unmistakable sound of Jeff Mills "The Bells and exclaim a profanity at the top of your voice to the whole office! Good Times :)
This is art, the little imperfections that make it so perfect! True DJing a craft slowing dying with the digital age. There is Something special about vinyl sets🔈🔉🔊
Two 1210s and a mixer - every mistake is heard no matter how tiny, which makes this set feel even more raw. Oh, and I was also there during the evening party 🔥
I listen to a lot of this. Watching Joris Voorn using vinyl is magic! Short, short samples from discs about which he is obviously very knowledgable. Often, today's DJs will run a sample until I think "OK. Had enough of that," and skip forward 5 minutes and, sometimes, the same sample is STILL there! I think Joris ran about 2 minutes MAX before segueing into the next. Sure hope no-one had the gall to ask for a track list! :-D
You can tell he didn't come up mixing on vinyl. His mixes are like hip-hop cut style for many of the tracks. Works fine for techno, but wouldn't work so great for house. As long as the crowd is happy and dancing... :)
@@SunWKim you meant to say that you have no clue what you are talking about...? What the hell are you saying?? Hip hop style?.... doesn’t work for house. Like Voorn ever played house. Sorry to say... but your reaction is nonsense.
@@arjanpetersen Your entitled to your opinion like mine, but when people don't have anything substantial to say, they usually resort to attacking the person. I gave a criticism and I explained why I thought he didn't grow up with vinyl. Do you want to discuss the merits of that or feel better attacking people instead? If you disagree with my point, feel free to explain your point in an intelligent way. He's using the cut style to move from track to track because he can't hold the mix long enough because he didn't beat match precisely enough. That's the same in a lot of hip-hop where they might hold the mix for 8 beats then cut to the next track.
@@SunWKim1. you did not explain anything. 2. His matches are long and accurate enough. 3. Stop swearing at others. It's Techno community not a pub. 4. What's wrong with you?
guys, the music is the most important, not the equipment... I grew up watching guys playing on vinyl only, before CDJs and Digital... nobody cared back then, so stop this moaning about equipment/mixing, when back then nobody cared
No vabbè... questo all awakenings al gashouder suona con solo due giradischi... ragazzi questo è un vero DJ... dischi pazzeschi e velocità nel mettere a tempo impressionante.... troppo troppo forte
Great show !!! This is mixing !! As well said the limitations offered by the vinyl makes the best of each dj and most important is that when mixing vinyl is pricked with the heart. I have always believed that sessions to "old school" vinyl are the best structured best punctured many songs but not saturated as now often happens. I hope to see one of these sessions of yours live !! Save the vinyl !!
Robert Stevenson are you kidding me??? He is a great producer and can mix cds but with vinyls he has no fucking idea. Anyway is always great see someone with real vinyl today.
David, i would not say He has no idea around his records. Just have a look on it how quick all the beat matching are he done, saves from skipping and "Clashing/sliding ,,.. takes a dj how fast you can clean up your messy mixing and get the grooves sorted again, or am i wrong ? As you can hear/see it was a great mix... it was not the cleanest and the most accurate for sure but still pretty awesome, and please i am begging your pardon but can you do it better ? :) anyone can mix on cdjs... it is not hard at all. Thank you :)
Time to listen one's of the best djs ever for me because was the golden years for vinyl and I was living in A'dam awesome Joris voorn. From Portugal 🇵🇹
A great set that shows one of the original masters ability to throw the ones and twos about. I think it was a very strong decision to play a vinyl only set in front of such a crowd. it just goes to show how much of a techno master he is and he can wipe the floor with the young ones, analogue or digital. Really impressed at the gasshouder he played a vinyl only set. He still has it. Interested to know why he did it though? Thanks Joris! Super set
Damn what a set! I really love the mixture between late nineties techno and newer stuff. The medium used to play shouldn't matter, the music matters, but you can't argue that you feel this dj's love for his records. He is really having fun. I'm buying all this records on discogs as we speak :D
I have 4 deck Traktor and two 1200's, mixing on the 12's is so much more fun, something about laying down a solid vinyl set. Cheers Joris, great stuff!
Joris, frankly, this is probably the best set or one of the best I've ever heard. You need to play more often with vinyl. I think that only then can be called the correct dj. Music now does not have the spirit of this soul as it is old. What was once created was about a hundred percent better and it had something that the music is missing nowadays. I think many people know what I mean.
dawid theres more garbage out there you really gotta dig. its easy to release digital garbage but if you gonna press a record it costs the label money so it better be damn good or you eat your vinyl releases to feed your family. yummy vinyl toast.
Big set here with all oldskool techno classics, rachmad, Mills, Hood, some old Beyer, Rolando. From all those wannabe hipsters i respect Joris the most.
old skool joris is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better then new skool joris :D but still love you dude!!! you made me go back to 17year old me at I LOVE TECHNO, shhhhhh don't tell anybody, possibly lied about my age back then left & right to see you play.
Bravo Joris.
