When you talked about the starch on teeth and the tiny minerals in plants, it reminded me of videos I've seen where they use teeth mineral analysis to figure out what parts of the world people were born in and where they died in, to track migrations of peoples across areas. It's so crazy the amount of information we can get from these things.

Thanks for sharing that! There is definitely a lot to learn from teeth. I have a friend who does a bit of dental archaeology and her papers are fascinating.

This is so kool! So many interesting plants - I love growing - and eating! - descendants that have provided humans food for thousands of years!
One that I've had in my garden for over a decade is a spinach relative that's perennial! Blitum bonus-henricus (syn. Chenopodium bonus-henricus) was Cottage garden favorite, and is one of my earliest greens. The seeds (related to quinoa and amaranth) can be eaten with the leaves, or used with other pseudo grains....
Nettles are another which have been wild harvested for good, and used for Cordage and thread for thousands of years....

Thanks so much for sharing! Our team is really into plants! We have some more plant-related videos coming up. I will check out that perennial spinach relative. I am slowly charting out my garden for this this year. I mainly do a lot of native plants for pollinators and berries for my kiddo, but I think I will try edible leafy greens and veggies again.
