    RCBS should put the link for this video in the box instead of their instructions. Thank you brother for the clear instructions. Great video.

      I skimmed thru the manual, reading the instruction parts more thoroughly. I used super skinny needle nose pliers to tighten the inside part. I’m so glad you mentioned that the extra part was indeed a wrench. Good looking out.

    If you turn the priming tool over and put the box of primers in without turning it upside down, all the primers should be in the proper position. Your thumb should be under the thumb rest and you have it backward. Next time, take a deep breath so you don't shake so bad.

    Why the hell does every RCBS primer system feed sideways? Even their pro chucker 7 station does it. If it even feeds at all. Had one dent the primer the other day to the point I'm surprised it didn't go off. Tempted to start wearing earplugs while reloading.
    I have a collection of several of each caliber I load with sideways, missing or damaged primers that i'm too afraid to do anything with because it might set them off. So they sit on a shelf... that is probably a drop hazard now that I think of it.

    Boy be careful you never lose the parts bag, my spring disappeared and can't find any of the old parts for it. Next time you load primers in the tray, tip the lid over the new primer tray and then just invert it, and lay the tray on the table when you replace the cover. Great video, now I know what parts I'm missing.

    Your video is very educational and very straight forward. That said , I would like to know before I make the purchase , will it work on the 7.62X54R , 30-06 , 30-30 , 243 , 270 , 35REM and 223.
    These are the most common ones that I use. Thank You and God Bless.

      I know this is too late to help you, but "yes." It would work on any case that uses large primers or small primers (up to, and including, .45-70 Gov't).

  • @Ensign_Cthulhu
    @Ensign_Cthulhu 2 роки тому +1

    7:25 I always check how the primer is sitting in the distribution channel ready to feed before I put the case in. If it looks wrong or somehow turned back upside down, I feed it out onto the bench and put it back into the process later.
    That being said, your setup instructions were crystal clear. If my local store has one of these next time I go there, I'm buying it.

    thanks for the video, the user manual is useless. this thing works great, i think they should redesign the primer holder tray how it opens. i would go with a round design like lee, it makes for easier opening and closing. rotate top cover and it comes off. etc

    Is that only to prime the shells , does it deprimes the the used primers ?

    • @pizazz57
      @pizazz57 2 роки тому

      It does not decap or deprime as you said. You would need a universal decapper. Either a hand one, or a decapping die.

    Who said to put the primer box face up or face down? Not all primers are packed flat liker federals. Remington are on edge. Many of them are on edge in trays.

    Too much frigging about, prefer the older style RCBS Hand Priming tool #90200, much simpler & easier to use.
    I think RCBS in trying to improve the tool have made it to finicky whereas the earlier model is much easier to use than the "Universal " model.

    Big thanks from me. Arrived today to replace the 3 Lee hand primers, all of which have died at some point (great tool for the price but lifespan left something to be desired). The instructions in the box were less than clear, but your video tutorial was brilliant. Thanks for taking the time to put it up.
    PS agree with all previous commenters about checking the primer has seated correctly... I have an embarrassing amount of shells with primers in them sideways...

    like you showed at 5:09, one problem with this tool. snapping the clear lid on flips several primers. very annoying

    • @barrygrant2907
      @barrygrant2907 3 роки тому +1

      If you set the tray bottom on the bench and slide it back and forth, all the primers will flip correct side up, Then put the cover on while the bottom is on the bench. That way you won't be shaking the tray and flipping primers. There's no reason to fill the tray while holding it.

    • @JM-nh8yp
      @JM-nh8yp 3 роки тому

      @@barrygrant2907 that's not the problem. The problem is that it snaps together so hard because of the center insert. It's like putting a big pig in a small hole and it makes the thing jump every time.

      @@cc27006 hi, it's a bit complicated, you absolutely must have no problem with the police or justice, whether it's you or your immediate family, after the papers are also long, the most annoying is that we have the right to have only 12 weapons (semi-Auto), on the other hand for 2 years the suppressor are declassified in free sale it is mega cool.

    when you press it keep your other hand and face from the front of it in case it goes boom
    Also relax you seem a little nervous and shaky, caffeine is bad makes you shaky, lol.
    That's a great tool should last multiple lifetimes.

    A universal tool that you have to change several parts out before you can load the next case???? I’ll save 75 bucks and keep the non universal one that I still have to change several parts on.

    • @Ensign_Cthulhu

      I think it fixes two major problems with the original. The first is requiring a shell holder; the second is that on mine, the pushrod that seats the primers tends to stay "up" rather than slipping back down to receive the next one. This variant explicitly mounts the pushrod to the ram mechanism in the handle.
      I'd say the one major limitation is that it can't handle cases outside the advertised limits. That being said, it probably covers 95% of what people are shooting.

    What depth are you seating your primers at ? Factory shells are 0.004" below flush. I get better groups with 0.007" below flush. some like 0.008" to 0.010" below. You got about 0.013" to 0.015" below flush before you bottom out.. Better to go lower for floating firing pin guns. (AR's, BLR's ,BAR's) Frankford Arsenal Platinum Hand Priming Tool can be adjusted to 0.015 below flush..

    To everyone... do you know how to orient primers in a tray? You don't put the lid on. You put the ribbed tray on a flat smooth surface and shake it around in circles and back n forth until the primers orient themselves, The lid is applied AFTER the primers are oriented!

    I just bought one of these and it is the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen. You can’t change from small to large primers with out completely taking it apart. The cases pop out of the jaws. Primers go in crooked because the plastic guid came damaged and want hold primers straight. Don’t buy this piece of garbage

  • @rvrski1

    Don’t buy, the jaws wear out and aren’t sold separately.
