The traffic lights in London only stay green for seven seconds & red for one minute, to catch frustrated drivers unknowingly going through a 'red light camera' & getting a huge fine!
As the man said at 1:19 it is just another tax. It will be another tax for NYC residents to make up the property tax NYC lost after COVID and to make up the cost of housing Illegal Immigrants. It will not improve transit at all. Politicians always lie selling it will go to one area and then use it for another program. In places like London there are restrictions on what the money can be used for not here.
Ridership will never recover to what it was before the pandemic because now people want to work from home all the time. Average weekday subway ridership was 5.5 million before covid and now it’s 3.6 million. The solution for the MTA is to crack down harshly on fare evasion. Then it’s problem solved. 50% of bus riders board through the back door. When people know there are no consequences for fare evasion, that emboldens them to start committing violent crimes. I’m a huge believer in the broken windows theory. That’s how Rudy Giuliani cleaned up NYC in the 1990’s and early 2000’s.
So basically, congestion pricing was a failure in London. It didn't reduce traffic in all of London, and it got worse outside the zone. This is exactly what will happen in New York City. I hope the lawsuits get rid of congestion pricing
@LazyDaisyDay88 If the MTA wants to get extra money, they should crack down on fare evasion, especially on buses. People don't pay the fare on buses and yet the MTA does nothing about it
@@Atrail_Mckinley4786 Interesting point McKinley. So from what I can see, fare dodging on the MTA is currently estimated to be worth around $285m per annum. The London congestion charge revenues for 2021 were just short of $300m. Not sure about the expected annual revenue from NYC's new congestion charge, but I suspect you have a reasonably strong case. Having said that, I'm sure the MTA would like to cut fare dodging AND implement congestion charging. Good luck to NYC! Anyone who uses public transport OR drives in the city is getting screwed whatever happens.
"It's about changing behavior." THAT SAYS IT ALL! How many are sick of our public officials trying to treat us like children? They work for us---not the other way around.
Here is a major difference between Manhattan and London. Manhattan is an island with delivery trucks stopping wherever they want. There is no where to go. Conjestion will always be an issue. This is just a cash grab.
Motor vehicles are the problem, therefore they are the ones being targeted. Walking, working, defecating, and sleeping don't take up street space like an unnecessary 90sq ft steel box on wheels.
@KeLena_DuGrant They are not the problem. The MTA don't handle the money they already get properly by overspending on projects. They are not fiscally responsible, and yet they still cry broke.
Congratulations on the video, it was excellent, London is a wonderful city, I hope to visit it one day. I started a channel here on UA-cam recently and record in the same way here in Brazil. I signed up, I will follow you from now on. A big hug!!!🙂
If you think for one second that congestion tax is going to improve the MTA, I have a bridge to sell you. What is really going on here is nyc figured out a way to turn almost every bridge into a toll road.
If NYC wants to be like London, they’ll have to improve the subway system which I believe is one of the worst in the world. Believe me when I said congestion pricing will not fix the transportation, it will make their executive richer.
They should of just done like my home country, if your plate ends in an even number then you can only drive into the city on Mondays and Wednesdays, if your plate ends in an odd number then you can only drive into the city Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fridays anyone can drive into the city but must pay a toll of around $15. Weekends anyone can drive in free.
People have much better access to public transport in London than they do in the NY metro area. People who live in Rockland County and Orange County (west of the Hudson River) don’t have a commuter rail option. I live on Long Island and we’re lucky to have the Long Island Railroad even though it’s very expensive to ride.

New York don't need congestion pricing. We not in London with congestion pricing. Let all drivers go for free in new york city. Governor Hochul need to get out the power.
They have sparkling subways, we have pissed filled subways with a man running around setting people on fire
They also use much more tax dollars for their subway and you all claim the mta has too much money. So which is it?
taking the subway is safer than driving.
They really don't. I was there on vacation last month, and saw a bunch of homeless camped out in the first tube station I entered.
@@EternalVids looks like rheu canceled congestion pricing

More taxes without improvement, that's the difference of the NY way vs every other modern city.

Once it is commissioned, it's never repealed because the city quickly comes to rely on the extra revenue that it generates.

There’s so much context left out of this video, they went straight for the Tory POV.
If traffic return, up the price...
There should be discount for electric vehicles
ChRge should be proportional to the driver's income, otherwise the poors will suffer more.
there are income discounts
