  • The West is running out of water. A decades-long megadrought spurred by climate change is coinciding with a continued population boom. In St. George, Utah, the effects of the drought are creating everyday challenges. City officials are racing to try to figure out what to do - find more water, slow growth or increase conservation efforts are the only options. abcn.ws/3L8IB4D

    Wacky idea. Maybe get rid of the golf courses and replace lawns that need water with native vegetation.

      The goal is to make drugs legal and plastic bags or straws illegal so we can throw plastic printers away instead of buying new ink cartridges. It should be illegal to grow marijuana indoors and complain about power outages.

      Agreed ! We live in a society today where common sense in developmental infrastructure is almost non existent. Its more of a cooperate greed standpoint, this city will dry up and left for poverty stricken house holds. Or the incompetent local governments will try and spend hundreds of millions of state tax payer money to save it.
      Funny how this red state's political ideology in climate change will soon asking the federal government for help.

    The audacity of the developers is stunning. Green golf courses in a desert, and a growing population. I see some green lawns in the subdivisions too which is unnatural and such a waste. "They need to work on conservation" yet they keep building! The southwest is a desert - learn to adapt to that, or pay the consequences.

    The building permits (for more new houses) are NOT necessarily, the problem, in itself. What they could do, is make it clear that with all new house construction permits, those houses WILL NOT get a "city" water supply. This already happens in many rural areas around the world. New home owners can choose to install rainwater collection tanks... or if you're an alien lizard, just go without water entirely ! Note that in some parts of the USA, local laws forbid people from collecting the rainwater from their own house, garage, or farm-shed roof, to use for their own household purposes. It's up to local people to pressure local politicians to change those dreadful laws, wherever they might exist.

    They never explained WHY Utah is using twice as much water as other states. That would have been a good place to start.
    I know in the South West, farms are using a gigantic share of the water and sadly, at lot of these farms aren't even from the US. Believe it or not, there's a Saudi farm growing alfalfa in the south west. Alfalfa is ILLEGAL to grow in Saudi Arabia, since it's so water intensive.
    Step #1: figure out why they're using so much water and stop the waste.

    • @nickl5658
      @nickl5658 Рік тому +2

      It is capitalism. Saudi bought the water rights and according to capitalism ideology.... once you buy something you own it and once you own something you can do whatever you want with it. Having some higher responsibility with what you do with your property is SOCIALISM. So Americans has to ask themselves, are they Capitalist or Socialist? Water rights often has a use it or lose it clause. So what the Saudi are doing is not waste, and completely legal within the US. The US needs to decide and decide quickly what kind of society it is... how does it value things. Especially as increasing stress is being placed on the environment and its natural resources... which hasn't been all that valued in the past.
      And speaking of illegal in Saudi Arabia.... not too long ago it was illegal for women in Saudi Arabia to drive. And it is still illegal for women to leave their homes without being accompanied by a father, brother, husband or son. Laws that apply in saudi arabia do not apply within the US or anywhere else.

    Civilizations in the past vanished, most likely due to drought and related food shortages. The analogy is: 1 drop in the bucket, 2 drops out. If every year you add more and more people using the finite water, it changes to 1 drop in, 3 drops out, etc. Without natural replenishment, deserts that were once dry are now water filled, and wet regions are now deserts. This is what the natural environment does.

    Shower twice a week instead of every day. you don't have to have a sparkling clean vehicle, quit with the constant car washing, quit irrigating your your yard, quit letting your children play with the water hose like it's a damn game... install water meters on each home that only allow so much gallons per month and then it just shuts off if you exceed.

    Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
    "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.
    So you must be careful to do everything they tell you; but do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
    They tie up heavy cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
    Everything they do is done for people to see:
    They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;
    they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;
    they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.
    But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.
    The greatest among you will be your servant.
    For those who exalt themselves will be humbled,
    and those who humble themselves will be exalted".
    YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FOR YOURSELF AN IMAGE in the form of anything, in Heaven above or in the Earth beneath, or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents, up to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me, and keep my commandments.
    If my people who are called by my name, humble themselves and pray, AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, I will hear from Heaven, will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.
    AND WHEN YOU PRAY DO NOT BE LIKE THE HYPOCRITES, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners, to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
    BUT WHEN YOU PRAY, GO INTO YOUR ROOM, close the door, and pray to your Father who is unseen. Then your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
    And when you pray do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard, because of their many words; do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need, before you ask him.
    This, then, is how you should pray:
    Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
    your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us today our daily bread.
    And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
    And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from the evil one.
    For if you forgive other people when they sin against you,
    your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
    But if you do not forgive others their sins,
    your Father will not forgive your sins.
    "Matthew 5-7 NIV Bible Gateway", we can use google search.
    These are the teachings,
    The Righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ our God.
    REPENT, and start doing what is right.
    If you abide my teachings, you are really my disciples;
    then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
    Yet a time is coming and has now come
    when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in Truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
    GOD IS SPIRIT, so his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in Truth.
    In the New Heaven and the New Earth,
    only Righteousness dwells.
    May the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ our God be with you all.
