I was about to give this big band mirror match and 8/10 despite its great combos and footsies because of the COMPLETE lack of satchmo death blow and playable trumpet in general. and then I got to 6:14 . 10/10
It’s called damage scaling, if you don’t have that in the game, I would say you can possibly kill people with one combo, fun fact btw, some people with some character would choose to hit less with some multi-hit move to lessen the scaling effect early on in the combo, however it maxes out after some time so I think they will just hit the full move. That’s also why they use air throws to reset the combo, since it can deal a whole lot of damage if you opponent didn’t expect it, a risking but more rewarding selection rather than a normal combo
I was 1v1 my brother using bb and he was using robo fortune and all i did was noise cancel everything and he literally screamed and told me “YOU SUCK ALL YOU DO IS PARRY”
If you cross onto the other side of the opponent after triggering burst, you can then let yourself get hit by the burst. The game doesn't take into consideration that you might have switched sides with your opponent and you're sent flying into them instead of away. Big Band can consistently make this work with very little effort on his part, his massive hitbox also makes it easy to get dragged into your opponent without flying past them.

I just realised that as the combo get longer,the lesser damage you do so if your combo is long as hell you would barely do any damage.
Almost every Fighting games has damage reduction system to ensure that the battle prolongs for a bit
