I still have my denim cut off I used to wear over my leather jacket when I rode in the 80s - the logo on the back was a skull and crossbones with the words 'LET THOSE WHO RIDE DECIDE'. Great days.
To reply to some of the comments... All footage was shot with a single DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, on a single battery, so around 20 minutes of flight time. The actual ride was done downhill and then a return back up, but it made more sense when editing to swap this around, as the majority of the interesting footage was of the uphill run. Music is rights-free. I'd have loved to have stuck something a little more recognisable on there, but didn't want to go upsetting any apple carts. Most footage is straight form the drone, some small edits to nullify jerky controls and a couple of dolly zooms in places to highlight the sheer scale of the scenery, then just simple colour adjustments and the Marmite vignette. Thanks for all the nice comments folks.
So macht Kurvenfahren sicherlich kein Spaß.
Fabulous.... I drove over this in 1978 in a Leyland camper van... expecting it to explode at any moment, but it amazed us by chugging up the thousands of feet in the cold .... an amazing bit of engineering, especially some of the hairpin bends that were supported in mid air by a pylon anchored to the side of the mountain lower down...
I also went on a coach trip from the uk to lake Como in 1963 and my mum insisted we sit at the very front of the coach. The coach was too big to go round those bends so the driver would pull forward so the coach appeared to be hanging in mid air over the edge and then back up so he could get the coach round the bend it was scary but also great fun to remember. Thank you bring back such great memories.
Lago di Como is my fav place to be in Italy, I hope you did visit Varenna, its like a fairy tale world... a must see. And yes the Gotthardtunnel and pass in Swiss is great to do :)
Hi Sticky Stuff. If you like to ride your bike, I recommend you to go in Summer from Geneva by Wallis the two Pass Furka and Oberalp in Direction Ilanz (Graubünden). But you need several hours.. It's amazing. This route is also possible with the train. You will see, what our former people were able to build at that time. You will never forget this ride. And in top of every Pass, you can eat and drink in the restaurant and buy some souvenirs. But don't drink too much alcohol, you need concentration.. If you fall down the street, you may wait a little bit for the doctor. The next hospital is sometimes miles away.. Drive carefully and enjoi🏍️😜. You may find any information in the Internet. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I'm coming at this late...in 2020. The video is so well done and the drone footage is breathtaking. My only suggestion to improve this would be to include the rider going through the turns instead of just accelerating out of them. This is a really common thread in mountain motorcycling videos and for riders who are still determining how to ride in this kind of terrain, like myself, it would be so helpful to see more experienced riders as they approach, execute and exit a turn in twisties like this.
Lan-da-san St. Gotthard. Lucerne to Milan. 79 jam-ba-tan. 81 te-ro-wong. The longest one is 15km. Built by 2,500 men in 10 years; 1880. ba-tu + (ba-tan) or ba-tu +(ba-ta) = about stone.
The video would be wonderful if it weren't for this idiot motorcyclist who thinks he has to ride a bike all the time... For me as a Swiss citizen with a close connection to this road, something like that is an insult... you drive on this historic road with decency and Respectfully and carefully, not like a wild hooligan... There are race tracks or some unimportant side roads for such things, but not the time-honored tremola... My opinion... Meine Meinung...
One of my favorite stretches of road. I ride it every chance that I get. I like both the history and the fact that I almost always have it all to myself. A great Thank You to the crews that keep it in repair - it is a LOT of work.
Was this the one I drove over the Alps in 2007...scared the living heck outta me without guard rails around the curves , it felt like the car would simply fly off into the sky. I remember putting down the sun visor... don't know why that helped..maybe so I didn't see the sky. I gripped that steering wheel the whole way over. Wow..what a memory. I was terrorized in such beautiful landscape.
Fantastic video. But be warned before you drive there with your car: it's all cobblestones and it will rattle the living hell out of everything. Ask me how I know ...
The beauty of this region is you can find roads to suit all tastes. Just over the hill from here is the road down to Andermatt, which is as fast and sweeping as you could ever wish for
We revealed on the got hard pass on an ulsterbus tour. We weren't meant To go over the pass, we were suppose to go through th tunnel, but it had been closed because of an accident, so used the pass instead. It was hairy to say the least.. it we good to see it again on tis video.
In Airolo waren keine Schilder sichtbar.
Damn! Lifting the front on those cobbles? And I thought I was good bringing a K1600GT down from the pass. Great video work. Info on how it was done, pls
Amazing video, thank you. Clive's not reight good at doing wheelies though is he. He reckons it's because of the "thin air" or summet. Yeah reight Clive!
Nice footage and the road is pure excitement.
Whoever made this...Thank you, thank you!
Wow, that was amazing! I thought the music was very fitting:-) Thanks so mcuh!
This is awesome video + editing. The road itself, well, I drove it a few times this year, it is the most fun road I have driven to date.

Nice vid, though I would have liked to have seen a greater variety in shots. Music was awful.
Zéro la video👎👎👎
Awful music.

Awesome footage !, Well done :)
Very nice video, the overview ist outstanding, the best i have ever seen. My respect !!! Best regards
Very nice footage. Good drone shots. See 34 Teslas driving up the Tremola: ua-cam.com/video/TVbRxuutnhc/v-deo.html

Beautiful winding mountain road.swess know how to build mountain roads.😀
Magnifico
Merita veramente…ti consiglio di andarci!
Beautiful place I really enjoyed watching it. Awesome video.
A masterpiece of road building.
I've taken the Gotthard pass and the old, I found both to be amazing and looking forward to the Alps again this year. Great video.
All very nice but the "Ancienne Route" over the cobbles is best on a push bike
my favorite road in Truckers of Europe 3

Been there. Done that. 2002 with Admo-Tours.com. 15 days. 3550 miles.
So I'm the only one who doesn't like these damn streets?
Sad how many tourists with rental vehicles head for the tunnel. They don't know what they've missed.
Drone's view is amazing . The old Gotthard Passs is spectacular too. i'd like to go to ride on the pass the future .
Beautiful.. what drone do you use?
You don't have to worry about going over the edge...........it's the landing that's the tricky bit!!!!!
Fantastic video. But be warned before you drive there with your car: it's all cobblestones and it will rattle the living hell out of everything. Ask me how I know ...
No flat spot on the tyres for the motorcycle in this video awesome viewing with great respect from Northern Ireland top job ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️👍👍👍👍👍
Sehr schöne Aufnahmen, gute Drohnenführung. Hier übrigens 34 Teslas, die die gleiche Strecke hochfahren: ua-cam.com/video/TVbRxuutnhc/v-deo.html
Bitte Kurvenfahren lernen...
Annette JEGER.
Nice road, too bad the rider is such a hot dog instead of just enjoying the views.
LA STRADA DEL SAN GOTTARDO:SONO ANNI CHE NON LA FACCIO MA E' SPETTACOLARE COME SEMPRE ANCHE SE MOLTO MENO CURATA DI QUELLA DEL GROSSGLOCKNER!
Grimsel e susten non sono da meno....
Super....fantastik😀👍👌👌
I suspect that running that road a few times would be exciting but I could see it becoming fuckin ponderous after awhile.
I’m 72 and want to go and do that I’ll even forsake doing the steering and ride pillion
is the old Gotthard pass Close after the new Road open ? i really want to ride there next year .

Great footage .. but never been a fan of chasing hair pins .. much prefer a series of undulating sweeping esses .. but that's just me
The beauty of this region is you can find roads to suit all tastes. Just over the hill from here is the road down to Andermatt, which is as fast and sweeping as you could ever wish for

That's some road there - presumably it's closed for 4-5 months a year
Who ? More like 6-8 months depending on the season
.
Bellissimo
Jesus is Lord
and for sure riding that ike a Yorkshireman, nice drone work thats for sure, might need to have a chat about how that was done and by who
The entire Tremola is made of cobblestone.
Top vidéo ! 🇨🇵
