    Got to give credit to Robespierre. He put many people a head of their time

    Robespierre shattered his own jaw in a failed suicide attempt. He was dragged to the same jail cell Marie Antoinette was housed before her date with the guillotine.
    When Robespierre was dragged to the block the executioner ripped off the bandage keeping his jaw together and he screamed violently for 2 seconds before the blade took his head.
    What a lovely way to go for a lovely fella.

      On the other hand, Robespierre is one of the fathers of modern parliamentary system of government, we shouldn't only condemn him, but also see the enormous achievements made by the french people under his administration.

      Robespierre is a heroes and a martyr of the revolution. In the end he was just betrayed and a black legend was created around his figure by royalist and reactionary forces. Thankfully his heritage is more and more rehabilitated here in France

      Are you stupid? He KILLED a lot of INNOCENT people and half of his fellow club members including Danton himself sending people the guillotine for one minor mistake supporting the royals or even saying the wrong word you got to be stupid to believe in this dictator

    • @vectorenigma7098
      @vectorenigma7098 2 роки тому +8

      @@GoldenOne131 Robespierre was not a dictator. There were 12 people in the committee of public safety, Robespierre simply being one of them. To say he was the ‘leader’ of it is false, propaganda by Thermidorians to use Robespierre as a scapegoat so that no one else turns on them. Most of the things that went down during 1793-1794 were the entire committee’s fault, not just Robespierre’s. There were even members of the committee who did worse but still hung the blame on Robespierre. He never ruled france, because it was chaos and the government had very little control over what was happening. In fact, most of the deaths during the terror weren’t even by Robespierre personally, he was too ill to have much of a say. He even opposed most of the crimes committed during the reign of terror and attempted to protect many political opponents from execution. He tried to protect Danton and Desmoulins as well. Eventually though, Desmoulins’ newspaper inspired an attempted coup which was basically the final straw for Saint-Just, who then convinced them that keeping Danton and the others around was too dangerous. When the deputies said the famous quote, “the blood of Danton chokes him”, Robespierre responded by calling them cowards for not defending Danton because no one did. People were all for the executions of his fellow jacobins until afterwards; people like Fouche didn’t care at all about Danton, they just wanted Robespierre out. Robespierre abolished slavery in France, and it being reinstated had gotten many more people killed in the long run than the terror ever did. The people who call Robespierre a monster are absolute hypocrites. The counter-Revolution itself lead to many more deaths than the actual ‘terror’. Not to mention the paranoia made a lot of sense, since there actually was a conspiracy against him since the French bourgeoisie literally plotted to kill him and succeeded

      Dude, have you forgotten about what Saint Just famously said "noone can reign innocently?"
      What, you think the modern religious and political leaders don't make mistakes and commit atrocities?
      They do, AS YOU WELL KNOW, but I guess it is Ok when they do it BUT NOT OK when Robespierre does it? 🤔
      Remember, the winners manipulate history and it turns out that even human monsters, such as Adolf Hitler, were not as bad as we have been led to believe.
      And don't get me wrong, what he and his "Wansee Conference" gang did to the Jews and to other groups of people was terrible, evil, but at least HE REALLY WAS a man of the people and what he achieved for Germany in the short time that he served as Fuhrer hasn't been achieved by anyone, to this day!
      The point that I'm trying to make with this is that not everything is as Black and White as most people put it, if you really want the Truth you must put your hands on your head, do lots of reading, investigation and whatever else it takes to find the Truth, or don't do it at all.
      Bye Panzer 👋
