From what I get from the book and the meaning of the cards and other videos, you are not meant to use this deck as a normal traditional Rider-Waite tarot deck and should not be used by someone who is just getting into tarot for the first time.
This is all about Lovecraft; this deck is about finding your innermost fears that you don't want to confront, which is represented by the Major Arcana. The Minor Arcana is all about ways to help you overcome those fears, the court cards representing people you could maybe seek out to help you with those issues.
For the intention of the deck, it is absolutely perfect in what it sets out to accomplish.
I agree with the first half. Definitely not beginner friendly and definitely not traditional RWS.
But I disagree with some of the second half. I don't find the book goes enough into the Lovecraft in the Minors or the courts. I find that they follow too much the RWS. That's what was lacking for me. I've been using the deck without the book the whole time and enjoyed it much more. 😊
I am glad I didn't get this deck. I'd hate it. The images are fantastic, it's unfortunate the suits are renamed
