Very nice👍 Some years back I had a similar problem where my alto lost 90% braking power because of brack fluid leakage & I was in the middle of a busy market & there was no chance of stopping anywhere so I used engine bracking & handbrake just to get out of there, it was a real tough situation for me but I got through it & learned a very vital lesson in life. Always check your brack fluid.

To add to it: Once you realise that your brakes have failed, immediately switch on your hazard lights (blinkers), so that by the time you stop your car, the ones behind you don't crash into you..!! Keep an eye on the rear view mirror, if cars behind you are too close, you need to somehow raise your right arm outside, signalling a stop, besides other co-passengers (specially the ones at the back who don't generally wear seat belts (in India) need to brace themselves for the sudden stop & need to be verbally warned cooly.
To add 1 more thing to it:the 'ENGINE-BRAKING' involves the gear-box, along with the engine- resistance...& this leads to little, or medium, or massive damage to the clutch-plate &/or the gears (depending on the speed-factors, & gear-changing timings)...but still then, these damages are worthy of... if u can save ur self &/or others' lives...
