  • Whether you are waiting on the sidelines during an arduous rehearsal, or cast as an "extra" to set the scene of a ballet, utilizing ballet pantomime can be an excellent way to improve your balletic social skills.
    To be serious, we both have had our fair share of being an "extra" but learned to find the hidden joys even in less prestigious roles. Remember that glory is not only for the dancers in the spotlight, but for truly anyone who can find a way to make their role personal and special.
    Hope you enjoy this video. Please like and share with your most talkative friends.
    Grace to you,

    You're hilarious when you're "serious," Eden! I particularly like the completely different gestures for "who," "what," "where," "when," "why," and "how."

    I remember I had a book about this when I was a kid, they explained the gestures and gave examples from famous ballets. I used to read it over and over. This video is a definitive upgrade, the ultimate expert guide of all expert guides.

      What book was it?

    • @arualblues_zero
      @arualblues_zero Рік тому

      @@katherinedobias7499 It was called "Primeros Pasos en Ballet" (first steps in ballet), and had basic info about techniques (VERY basic), gestures, and also the plots of the most famous ballets.
      I can't believe I found it online now, so I just found out it was by Brian Shaw and it seems to be from the late 70's or early 80's, so it might be outdated. Looking at the cover, which I hadn't seen in decades, brought back a lot of memories. Also, I just terribly dated myself lol

    My favorite mime of anything is Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty of course. Whenever I see her miming beauty and grace and pricking her finger, I think of Maleficents curse in the Disney film. "She shall indeed grow in grace and beauty... but before the sun sets on her 16th birthday she'll prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die!"
    And whenever I watch the film alone, I will mime Carabosse along with the curse. I'm such a dork, but I love it

      @@balletreign you have such a great sense of humour! As a person who grew up far away from the world of dance, I had the vague impression that ballerinas are very serious and sophisticated, and would not be able to have a sense of humour. Of course, I am so old that when I was in elementary school, the most modern form of dance was jazz. Although the Internet informs me that hip-hop was invented as a street dance by African-Americans in the late 1960s and ‘70s, it had not yet trickled down to my part of the world. I’m pretty sure hip-hop classes started becoming available when I was in high school. That was before the Internet was invented. In a way, it means that my generation has more in common with Abraham Lincoln and all students going back to ancient Mesopotamia/Egypt/Greece 📜 and even the late Cretaceous Period when Dave 🦖 is from, because we had to literally go to the actual library to find books for information to put in our essays. 🗄️🗃️📕📗📚📝
      I have been name-dropping your channel name in other ballet videos, (when it seems appropriate as I don’t want to create a negative impression, of course) as well as forwarding your videos to not-yet-ballet-fans, so I hope you get an increase in viewership and subscribers! 🆙 😍
