Very good. Very nice. I will buy one.

I did some research on the need for "output/run" or "balancing" capacitors (the question I posed in the video). As I suspected, they can be used to fine tune the phase angle of the three phase output (as reflected in the P-P voltage and phase currents), particularly the generated phase. I also came to understand that the need is increased if the load motor uses more than 50% of the rating of the idler/pony motor (e.g. Load motor is 2HP and idler is 3HP) and/or requires a lot of start up torque (like an air compressor). My strategy: I intend to monitor my motors-under-load and see if any issues (heating, noise, under power) are observed and add if necessary. Remember, my envisioned loads are almost zero start up torque required (like the surface grinder). Make sense ?

Thanks @phillipcoplen8051 ! … it was fun (and useful) to get it going. Those relatively big motors are so powerful !

@@danielatbasementtech absolutely, I’ve played around with some big power stuff but 3 phase hasn’t been something in my house 😂. Maybe someday I’ll need to build one of those also

Ok, I’ll start the comments: should have painted the wood … didn’t think of it until some of the components were mounted … just have to rely on the shop patina 😊
