Namkyen Kyi, a former political prisoner, recently arrived in India and held a news conference to testify about her experience of arrest, imprisonment, and the challenges she faced after being released. She spent three years in prison after she conducted a solo protest dressed in traditional Tibetan chubas, holding photographs of the Dalai Lama high and calling out "Long live the Dalai Lama" in Amdo Ngaba in 2015. Kunleng host Tsering Kyi invites Namkyen Kyi to discuss her experiences during the events leading up to her protest in her hometown, her sacrifice for the Tibet cause, and the hardships she faced in a Chinese prison.

Thank you Tsering Kyi for your effort! The most emotional interview I have listened on VOA! Her Amdo dialect is extraordinarily difficult to understand but it was a good effort. I wanted to understand every word what she has to say but that wasn’t possible. I know you also became subdued after she started her emotional reminisced how the Chinese treated them. I hope many Tibetans have listened to this interview and help understand the dire situation in occupied Tibet. I hope exile Tibetans stop visiting occupied Tibet knowing how they are ignoring the tragedy that is unfolding behind the Chinese propaganda! We all admire the incredible courage of Namkyid and Tenzin Dolma. They are true heroes of our struggle for Tibet’s freedom!
