Here are a few tips. 1.Floor holes a. With the floor holes you need to attach the lift to the hole, Not the belt/splitter/machine/etc. b. With the holes you can have the lift have no vertical limit but you have to put the lift in the same vertical spot at the bottom which can be a pain because it will not attach unless you look at the hole on top (remember to make sure the lift is going the right direction by using the "R" key). 2 . The map (it has a lot of QOL that most don't know about) a. On the list you will see a picture of a - or + , a compass , and a Nav Point, Use those to toggle on and off. As an example if you are tired of seeing the dismantle crates on the compass at the top of the screen click the compass and it will toggle on and off. b. Markers, the quick stickers are nice but lack options, try Using the +New Map Marker. Be sure to look at all the options! You can name them want, change the icon, put into different categories, etc. c. Hover the mouse over a name on the list and it will highlight all of the selected item, double click and it will center on the map. The check mark on recourses means you have a miner on it. d. There are coordinates at the top right of the map you can manually type in if you want to, but may require to look some up, Maybe when hunting loops, spheres, and HDs 3. Misc. a. I can't believe you passed one of the best early alt recipes "Wet Concrete" (not only once too) its a good way to get rid of excess water. b. Mega Bases are nice but if your computer starts to lag try building else where and have the parts shipped in. c. The better fuel for the jetpack dose make a difference, and for power too! d. Always grab the remains and construct them "with a loop" to alien protein(do this with power slugs too to get double the power shards). Then construct again "with a loop" to DNA capsule. The DNA capsules are only for the Awesome Sink and have their own meter for coupons e. "P" for photo mode and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out f. "H" to holster equipment when building, Or may I suggest getting to cup from the Awesome store sometimes equipment gets in the way. g. You can hot key blueprints too.
Thank you for all those, very useful knowledge. 1) Yes I understand the concept of floor holes and infinite length verticals, I just haven't had any practical use for those yet in my factory. Whats wrong with just connecting lifts to each other at max length? 2. Thanks that's super handy I will definitely try this out. 3. a) My base hasn't had water until recently neither have I had the need to dispose of water. But I can see that being handy in the future d) Oh true, I should do that, thanks for reminding me
Hey DataEngineer, Physicist here. Nuclear pasta is the hypothetical medium inside of neutron stars -- the star is so dense, all the particles are fused into something like a huge nucleus, with lasagne pasta like sheets of nuclear material (nucleons bonded via strong interaction). Theres a great Kurzgesagt video on it. Nuclear waste can normally be reprossessed to reclaim ant remaining fissile material in the fuel cells and produce "depleted uranium" as the bi-product. Factorio has this! I remember in your factorio series you said "oh you combine petroluem and water to get sulfur its like a miracle " and i found that so funny becuase that is like a scientific miracle. Like getting gold from lead. Addendum: there are unavoidable, long and short half-life fission products from the fuel. In real like they can only be collected and place in cooling ponds first and then in vitrified storage -- encased in huge cylinders of concrete and glass. Kyle Hill has a great video on this.
@@EnemyOfEldar haha cool! Yes I do remember that "in a nutshell" video about neutron stars. Satisfactory nuclear pasta is made by putting copper powder into some pressure cubes in a particle accelerator... maybe you can explain that to me from a physics perspective hahs
You really should look parts on the ground around the things with hard drive, sometimes you'll have advanced part that can be use to get other hard drives If you don't choose an alt recipe in the mam, and search for other hard drive, you are sure that you'll have different recipe (that mean an alt recipe cannot appear twice in the list at the same time) it's usefull when you look for particular recipe (like the one for fuel / turbo fuel, pure ingot :P)
Drones are always a mixed bag for Logistics. The 9 slots of Inventory is meant to add a tool to the Logistics bag, not replace an existing one. (Originally the Trucks were replaced by trains completely. Trucks were Janky & broken. So, the Devs fixed and buffed the Trucks- making them viable. Now players mix and match based on need. The Drone was intendedto add to that Meta) Your play style has nearly everything being brought in to a Centralized area for processing. (So, a very limited use case) Think along the lines of: Trains move Ores, Trucks/Tractors move low-Level components, Drones move advanced components. This would be the average concept for a play style that has higher volume & decentralized production. Example: UA-camr Moo took an entire swath of the Iron and Limestone in a section of the Dune Desert to create a 90 per minute Heavy Modular Frame Factory. (With Alt Recipes) He can theoretically use Drones to then ship that advanced part to other factories. A Turbo Motor or Pressure Cube Factory. They can also be used to gather those out of the way Ores, that a train or Truck would be wasted on. Example: Kibitz used a Drone setup to retrieve the Uranium atop the tallest Mountian, despite the limited inventory through put, it was enough to meet the Need. Each Drone Port supports only 1 drone as it's Home Port. So, they can't go from Port A to B to C then back to A. Trucks and Trains can, but not a Drone. (This doesn't however mean Drones are Useless) When utilizing a Drone system. Try not to fall into the trap of *A to B"* is the only use. Though it does have that function. Even though A to B is how each Drone works individually, You can theoretically have multiple B's working the Same A.... You can set up location A with a Drone Port for Ore, and Location B for a Factory. You can have 2 Drones working on this route. I know, each port only supports 1 drone..... But, Drone B can fly to Drone A doubling Drones on that Route. Making 18 Inventory slots dedicated to that Route. Here's the Fun.... If the Production Factory has 5 Drone Ports, they can all be assigned to Drone Port A as an Ore or Component Source. Ultimately increasing the Logistical Output of that Ore/ Component Source for 90 Inventory Slots in Transportation on that Route. Likewise, You can have Multiple Factories sending Drones to Pick from that Source. (Theoretically, if there's enough supply to meet all the demand) Also, while every Drone Port has a Fueling setup, it's often better to plan which points in Your Network actually support the Fueling. No need to have a Fuel Logistics supply spread across the entire Map, when You can pick Key Critical Junctions and Fuel from there. Ultimately, Drones fit into a Logistics Network. And become more useful in Decentralized Networks. Or, You can go the whole hog approach like Kinstruction did when He made that Super Star Destroyer build. He made an entire Oil Processing and Power Factory shaped like a Star Wars Ship floating in Atmosphere. So, the Oil was Packaged on the Ground, and everything was Flown in via Drones. To keep the Factory completely Floating. It was Disgustingly Beautiful. So, there's some ideas, uses, and concepts for the Drones. Enjoy experimenting with Them
Thanks for that, I kinda had the hunch that it wasn't used for mass transport. That it would be better for transporting small volumes like high level parts. The drone port's large form factor leaves it being a bit annoying to use. I had a cool idea for having my factory entirely delivered by drones instead of belts. But then I thought for a manufacturer you'd need 4 drone ports to manage 4 different items etc etc... Seems like an end game idea when I have infinite power and fuel

True, I could probably have picked up those advanced parts prior to being able to produce them myself
U can explode poison rocks and plants by nobelics, and there no poison
He's done that B4. Was fun to watch
