I know it would be a pain to get, But I think the build would look even better with a lava moat instead of just water. It would be kind of dangerous though. Ps: It's good to see you are still going strong, haven't seen your channel since the desert house tutorial.
I am really getting into minecraft lately but am still pretty new to the basics. What are some tips you have for going into the Nether? Just subbed as well! ^^
I am still a beginner too. When going to the nether for the first time, be sure to equip yourself with gold armor. Also, you might want to go with only the bare minimum of belongings you are prepared to die with.

I think lava is cool, but as you said, it is not safe, so I use water.
In creative mode I would have used lava.
