Chalkida, Greece 1966 (silent color 8mm film)

Description:
We are in Chalkida, the capital of the island of Evia, which extends on both Euboea and Central Greece.
We see a panoramic shot of the hill of Kanithos, Fourka, which is located on the mainland of Chalkida with the Ottoman castle Karabamba at the top. A part of the urban construction and lastly the Bridge of Euripus, which connects the island with the mainland of Greece.
People are on the promenade as well as parked intercity buses. Shots of the Bridge that is crossed by vehicles, pedestrians, carriages. A look at the "crazy waters" on the strait, where the unique phenomenon of the direction changing of the water occurs every six hours and in between (approximately) ten minutes of stagnation (tide of Euripus).
We see the grove at the base of the hill of Kanithos, the mountain Messapio or Ktypas in the background, the three-storey neoclassical Kotsika Mansion with the two characteristic domes on the coastal road, which houses the City Hall of Chalkida, as well as shots of the northern Euboean Gulf.
