It's about 25 years I can't understand how they did this on SID with no PCM and just 3 constant frequency sound generators. This and drawing into the border was just two magic things for me :D

For me as well. By the way these tracks used a bug in the SID chip to do a forth voice doing samples. Was VERY CPU intensive, because the CPU literally had to push each byte in.
@Jakob Vana: This and a lot of other Chris Hülsbeck-stuff is actually with 8-bit-sampled real life drums (like rock bands have). He recorded it with a microphone and digitalized it to 8-bit. So I guess the is a bit like the PCM you mentioned (but much more rudimentary). And this is why the drums here sound somewhat realistic and much, much better than the drums in most other C64 music pieces. Drums are practically impossible to emulate with just 1 of the 4 waveforms of C64's SID (triangle, sawtooth, squarewave and white noise) and an ADSR-envelope.
And of course the voice here e.g. in "Drums to Heaven" that says "19" (or "90"?) is also sampled.
The SID had a noise generator on board, which most times did the "drums"
Regarding C64 all these sounds are gorgeous
I loved this game, the songs were so amazing.
But I never managed to be number one...

That and Like a Surgeon have potential for kick ass techhouse tracks. Somebody should go and use those elements for remixes!
