      I mention under the seat in the description but I haven't checked if it's switched power. You can get great deals on aliexpress but I avoid the platform because very often the stuff is cheap for a reason and I'd rather not find the bike burnt out because I saved a little money.

    On the 2021 390 that I have those connectors are underneath the pillion on the back of the bike and they're labeled as accessory 2 and accessory 3..
    They are clearly marked with a label from the factory and nowhere near as complicated to connect as this video. One is switched, one is always hot

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  Рік тому

      Yes, the later bikes may have both under the seat - the earlier bikes only have a permanently live, but either if you are wiring to the handlebars, the under tank ones are often easier to work with.

But it only works without the key. I switched the 2 cables but then it’s not working. What is my mistake? I want that it works like in your video when I switch the key. Regards Hakan from Germany

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  2 роки тому +1

      There are two sets of cables. One is full time power, the other is switched power. Make sure you have identified all four cables and you are plugging in the right combination of cables. There should be no issues with that. If one turns off the power when you switch on the key then there is a wiring fault.

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  3 роки тому +1

      No simple answer to that - would depend on the draw of the accessories. Much would depend on if for example you are running a fast charger. Don't ask me what I think about sport bikes designs, I wouldn't know where to start! :D

    Please. I am not sure. Which of the cables (from the accesory) is the positive? Is the red wire?

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  3 роки тому

      Red would typically be power. If you are ever unsure and you have a bulb you can test by running a wire to earth and holding it against one side of the bulb then take a wire from the socket to the other side of the bulb. You will quickly see which side has power.

    • @MotoMirius

      Yes. The problem is when you forget to turn something off when you leave the bike. Unless something needs to be permanently powered - like an alarm, it's safer to use the keyed power.

    Hello David, you reckon this setup works with ktm duke 390 2018? Also, the kit is waterproof? It doesn't say anything on ktm website about that. Thanks in advance for the reply 🙏

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  3 роки тому

      Yes, the kit is generic. The kit is generally waterproof but unless you are using a fully waterproof setup with cables etc then these will be your point of failure. You can fit any other kit instead if say you want fast charging - I’ve just used the KTM one to show how it plugs into the bike.

  • @kuttyte

    Hello. I have a gps unit which comes with a red wire for 12 v , black for ground and then there is yellow wire called ACC. Right now i connected red and black with battery +ve and -ve and yellow with my 390 adventure rear accessory port with ignition control. So now when the ignition is on, the gps unit comes alive along with other units. My question for you is, instead of connecting black and red with battery can we connect it to accessory port of the bike according to your video? What should we do with the yellow acc wire of the gps unit then?

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  6 місяців тому

      Yes, you can. It depends exactly what the ACC wire is doing - if it is just acting like a switch so it shuts the unit down to prevent flattening the battery when the bike is not running, then just wire it in with the positive wire to the switched connectors. If you wanted to retain the same setup, you could wire the positive and negative to the permanently live connectors and the ACC to the positive only when the bike is on wire.

    • @kuttyte
      @kuttyte 6 місяців тому

      @@MotoMirius I tried that. Positive and acc togather works on either of the connector. Seperatly it won't. I tried connected positive and negative to the always live connector and acc to the one which works with switch. It did not work.

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  6 місяців тому

      @@kuttyte the wires are connected to the battery, so they will work the same as connecting to the battery - if you use the right connectors and don't mix up the permanently live with the switched live. If it doesn't work then try to connect the ACC to the connection you are currently using - it depends exactly what it is doing

    • @ZackaryTheGreat
      @ZackaryTheGreat 4 роки тому

      TheJWC56 I’m wondering that myself. I don’t know much about engine stuff and I heard similar things. I actually own a 2019 390 Duke and haven’t had much issues but I’ve had it stall out on me a few times while riding. It happened to me twice in one trip (about a 100 mile trip) where I pulled in the clutch and it just stalled. Other than that it’s been ok.

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  4 роки тому +1

      Mine is about 5.5k miles - all short distance trips. I have to question quality on the bike, it's not made to the standards I'd expect from the Austrian factory. But most modern bikes and cars seem to have issues. I know for example that BMW car service centres spend a significant part of their time doing recalls and an ex-recovery guy I know reckons that he mostly went out to broken down BMWs. People with issues are very vocal about it so it's hard to get a balanced view. There are plenty of people with a decent mileage on their bikes with no issues but they don't talk about it, so I don't yet have an opinion aside from the fact that there are some low quality parts on the bike.

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  4 роки тому +1

      Stalling out seems to be a common issue. Given that this is a bike commonly ridden by new riders, I'm not so sure how much is bike and how much is rider. Some people seem to have issues with the clutch switch. But I've stalled the bike any number of times and I have enough experience to know that every single time it was my own fault - most commonly it happens after I've spent a few weeks only riding a sports tourer and it can take a couple of rides to reset my subconscious to allow for riding a bike with very little rotating mass in the engine where for example even a little drag by not quite getting the clutch pulled in enough will allow the rear brake to lock up the engine via the transmission. I stalled it the other day pulling off a junction (which was amusing as I did it in front of another rider) because I had too much clutch and not enough revs - none of my other bikes would have done that, but none of them have a lightly modified competition dirt bike based engine either - it requires a different riding style to most other bikes, in my opinion and I'm not sure how many people realise it.

    • @ZackaryTheGreat
      @ZackaryTheGreat 4 роки тому

      Moto Mirius When it happened to me, I was accelerating right before and when I got up to speed, I pulled in the clutch to coast for a little bit and as the bike rev down, it stalled at the the bottom

    • @cashtra
      @cashtra 4 роки тому +1

      @@ZackaryTheGreat i was able to get it run smoother wothout stalling by adding a Boosterplug, which only simulates slightly lower temperatures for little higher fuel injection... No ECU needed... Coasting in low speed stop n go traffic seems fine now. I hope the engine is reliable, as i only use my brakes in abrupt downspeed situations, and tend to let the motor do the work downshifting...

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  3 роки тому +1

      Lots of issues with KTM My Ride. Most riders don't bother with it because it has very limited functionality - displaying calls on the dash and that is about it. Much of it will depend what headset unit you are using and how compatible it is with the dash. I've never used it - I ride several different bikes so my setup with all this sort of stuff is to use one system that works with all the bikes and for the phone it just means straight connection to the helmet - I don't take calls when I'm riding anyway, doesn't seem a particularly safe idea to me given how much you rely on observation all the time - but maybe that's just because I'm riding in a fairly urban environment or heavy traffic roads most of the time.
