I wonder if first demonstrating MIlls' Mess with balls might help to show the hand movements and the paths of the objects w/o having to worry about something like a half-rotation on a box, or going from an over-grip to an under-grip, or all the little details specific to boxes that you need to worry about once you understand the pattern.

That's a good idea. I had actually planned to start with that but then I didn't have balls lying around the apartment and I was worried about the video being 20 minutes long. It's also tricky since in this format I have no idea of the level of the people trying to learn these tricks, so I don't know if they already know mill's mess with balls and are just new to it with boxes, or if it's all new... I'm trying to figure out how to strike a balance between different levels and efficiency vs. detail as I figure out who exactly is watching these things and what's the most helpful.

Nice one! Finally landed the inertia a few times today. Now lets see if i can do this 4-box variant.

Right now nothing - recovering from a fractured (lateral) humerus...but when I get back - 3.

Super tutorial. Thanks Eric!! I'd like to ask you something. Could you do a tutorial on the grip body? (When you rest a box on your foot or hip) I have a hard time performing those tricks and continuing later. If anyone can teach this, it's you...

Hi! Sorry, just saw this. I'll see if I can get around to it, things are picking back up so my tutorials output has taken a nosedive :(. I would say see if you can figure out a way to generate upward momentum in order to get out of those tricks- coordinating your foot and your hand in an upward motion together for example maybe by using the standing leg. Also consider doing a 'takeout'/ half tumble sort of thing off of your foot or hip- might be easier than trying to just flick the middle box back to the center since you can "throw" the box in your hand (the one that's pinning the other box to your hip) a little bit to give yourself more time to work with. Hope that helps! -Eric

Do you have any trouble shooting tips for inertia? I can't keep them in a line in front of my body + when I push them across they seperate. Ps did make the pirouette :)

Nice! For inertia make sure you're getting the line up to horizontal before you throw it; then transfer from a "pivoting" motion to a straight push across your body, but as smoothly as possible. Release the boxes as gently as possible, and then move quickly so they don't have too much time in the air to separate. Also, legs! Common theme in my cigar boxing is that concentrating on how you shift your weight can help a lot. Does any of that seem to help?
