Thanks this is very helpful @Emmanuel Raoelina. Great stuff as usual Peter Martin, just trying to catch up with this series! Have always loved solo jazz piano. The thing that got me most into listening to solo jazz piano was and is listening to both Marian McPartland’s NPR Jazz Piano broadcasts + NPR Jazz Piano Christmas, which hosts great pianists every year- and still do to this day, as feel it gives you a great history of different pianists including their different approaches! But still love Open Studio too and all that you are doing- keep spreading the light!
The transcription of Emotion In Motion at the beginning of this presentation and the awesome performance of Peter Martin (in 7/8 no less) may well be one of the most remarkable things I have seen on UA-cam.
Peter Martin No thank you! Since this was posted I have managed to play it (and even keep up with you!) up until the solo section. That’s next on my list. Getting more comfy in 7.
