A close fight on the cards and I felt the margins were much closer. But back to Spence. My only problem with what you said is Thurman and Spence are two totally different fighters. So while Thurman is more inclined to mix it up in there and not just go for the knockout, Spence is almost always going for the Mandown, so I don't think he was trying to prove he could let it be an ugly fight and still win, I think it makes more sense to say he was trying to knock him out and couldn't, and got pretty banged up in the process but found a way to win. I always felt Spence was in control that fight, but in relative control. He definitely was not imposing his will the way we usually see it. He had to think in there and fought most of the fight defensively.

Also keith thurman scored the first five rounds to porter. Errol did get caught with very good punches but he stayed calm and managed to somewhat neutralise the rough and rugged fighting style of porter.
