At 5:40, where he talks about a Sirius antenna, go buy a Sirius antenna with a short cord and pop the antenna on the dash so you have the feature. I did on my second install of this unit to another Jetta and it works fine here in New York.

Nice price. The other thing to consider is, if your car has a built in compass it may conflict with the NAV's GPS sensor. I believe you'll need to disable it. .

Quick question. Since the GPS antenna can work from inside the dash (I verified that it can work in my 2014 Jetta S), can the same be said with the SiriusXM antenna from the same location? Or do I have to put it on the dashboard?

I imagine this will also work on model year 2015 cars as well (except for Golf family). Those cars had option of rns 315 from factory also. I'm guessing the original web page with this listing was last updated in 2014.
Yes it should work on all non MK7 current model vehicles not including the Touareg

I'm looking into buying a VW car with a MFD.
I'm now looking at cars that have navigation installed from factory because it has connection with the MFD, so if i connect my phone to the RNS315 it shows up on my MFD too, same with navigation.
But when i buy a car with MFD and without RNS315 does the connection between these units work when i install the rns315 myself?

What do you mean that car doesn't have Sat Radio my MK6 Jetta has that same base head unit and it has Sat Radio

Anyone who is wondering you can do this with a mk5 golf or jetta as well but be careful, if you have an early version of those cars then you might have to upgrade your "Can bus gateway" to a newer module its cheap don't worry £30. If you don't it will work but the sterio will drain your battery even if the car is off because the old can Gateway doesn't know how to power it down properly.
Got the unit in 3 days and installed it today.
The good is that the unit is plug and play in the 2013 Jetta Sportwagen. The iPhone paired with no issue, the buttons on the steering wheel works fine, and the NAV was fully functional.
The Bad: There was no opening above the unit to place the NAV antenna. I didn't think that would be a big deal but no double stick tape was provided as per the video so I had to run to the store to get some. Once I had it, I found a spot to stick the antenna before installing the unit. The unit doesn't display the Navigation on the MFI screen on the dash but I don't see that as a big deal since the unit works fine on its own. But the unit had Version 1 maps while Version 9 is the current annual release. That is a big deal to me since the unit has 9 year old maps. And there is no audio streaming...but since there is a jack, that is not a big issue.

The Transporter I later found out that this was the original model that did not support Bluetooth streaming. An updated model included the feature.
My GTI Has it with the same head unit
The Transporter you have a later model like I do in my Eos. The earlier version did not. I found that out on a VW board.
True, Found out through Euro Zone Tuning that there are different versions of the RNS 315 eurozonetuning.com/ (going to get the latest version of an RNS 510 for my Jetta from them) BTW my GTI is 2012

+Jeff Keenan yes you can add a mic. For xm you would need more than an antenna as Vw models use individual modules for satellite radio

RNS315 Also supports Rear View Camera RVC. of course would need additional RVC module and wiring. not sure what coding is involved when retrofitting.

You'll need to change the can bus gateway. My golf V 2006 drained the battery in 3 days
Awesome, thanks for the video. I'm about to install an RNS315 myself, and was wondering about the GPS antenna replacement. Looks simple enough! Just what I needed to see. Quick question, what's the other connection on the back of the unit? Is that for a backup camera? I see the green satellite radio, AM/FM, blue satellite and quad lock, but there's another connector I'm not sure of.

I have a ‘14 Jetta S with the base radio and put the RCD510 in and it worked fine but my car did not come with Bluetooth so the phone button acts as a mute button. Hope this helps!

Yes but early MK5 2006 and 2007 had an issue where the battery would drain if you install this unit. Those cars require an updated gateway module (we dont have details on this) to prevent that from happening. If you have an 08 or 09 MK5 you are good.

What do you mean by MK6 Jetta? I have a 2015 Jetta SE. The original stereo is identical to mine. Just want to make sure this will fit my car. Why do you need a new antenna?
+seemstress17 yes it will. You need the antenna because your vehicle doesn't have a gps antenna in it.

Im sorry Im not clear what you mean by this. Im not aware of anything like this. You generally either have a navigation unit or a radio.
