My favorite Amon Amarth song I think.. Hate how whenever I try to explain how powerful I think it is I feel like others don't get it haha.. That's life I guess
Then if you want to hear what a real cryout is go check "Fate of Norns" by Amon Amarth and read the lyrics.. There you will meet both true sadness and masterpiece
Bro, when he says "Father I'm coming home", and then the storm starts, you know he's not coming home at that point, nor getting reunited with his father. And then they end it with "Father, I die alone." So heartbreaking.
it's so beautiful and emotional... being away from your family, alone into a new place, working early in the morning till the late night, knowing that you are going to see them again.. to be together during the Christmas.. and hearing the lyrics: " But now my dream, Starts to unfold Father, I'm coming home." you can't drop a tear while listening to this ;_; much love and respect for all of you that were away form family! ♡
This song is meant to be discovered under certain mood to be appreciated in it's full glory, music often feels underrated when it is introduced to us by others, we may not be in the mood for it, busy, etc.
I worked out to this song today and I understand you. Everytime he shouts "father I'm coming home" and "father I die alone" my eyes git watery and it really helped push me harder in my workout

I love how metal can fit so well with symphonies. This song would sound just as good if an orchestra were to play it. The feeling of the music alone is enough to make you feel victorious and sad at the same time. This is what music is supposed to be about.
Victorious and sad is the perfect way to describe this song, as that is exactly what it is: A man who is victorious because he is finally free from being a slave of his enemies. Only that freedom has come at the price of his life, as he is now lost at sea, waiting for whatever is lurking in the cold, deep waters to take his life away, or for the cold, deep waters themselves to take his life away.
There is a great piano cover on here, think the guys name is Sam Abbot? This song is so powerful no matter what instrument or instruments are playing it, it really is an absolute beast of a song
certainly there wont be any song while you die alone, maybe if you know the song and you sing with all your soul in order to create an epic scene while you die alone.
Been there, done that, in a smaller sailing vessel. Cant say i recommend it. Im always real careful watching several(!) different sources of weather forecasts now. You live and you learn, You die then you dont.
You know... Reading the lyrics to this song actually makes me wonder if the whole album is a story. With this being the conclusion and all. The character we hear about throughout the album is a guardian of asgaard and this is his journey. It's worth looking into.
TzT BadStudentQc I don't know. The title of the album itself is Twilight of the Thunder God, but if the album itself is about Thor, I don't know but I doubt it.

I had a drowning accident when i was 6 years old , i can remember telling myself that it was indeed going to be my cold wet tomb. I was so saddened by thinking about how early my life was ending. But even tough i was barely able to swim at shallow waters , i didn't give in to the deep sea. The waves were huge so i tried to take my head out of the water and breathe whenever possible. I don't know how long it lasted until my mother came to me. She was exhausted herself and couldn't carry me back to the shore. I remember begging her to leave me and save herself since it was impossible for me to swim back , and she couldn't carry me as well. She said "We are going to leave this place together , or we will not leave." This song makes me feel it all again. And i like it. Because on that day i learned to not give up. Keep fighting even if all the odds point at your certain death.

I used to try to get people into the songs I love too. Don't sweat it. They'll like it or they won't.
I feel the same way. These guys's music hits me in a way nothing else does.
I hear ya man, absolutely chilling song, the lyrics hit home really hard, I had to have been a viking in a past life.

Here's to all the sailors, fishermen and seamen who were embraced by the endless ocean... May they forever feast in Valhalla.
Seamen.. ehehehehe.. sorry :(
I stroked it in the ocean one time, lost a lot of seamen that day.
They didn´t die in fight. They won´t feast in Valhalla, they´ll go straight to Hel.
🤘😔🤘⛵

The story in this song is still the most fantastic of their entire discography
I disagree but only because "A Thousand Burning Arrows" exists. If that song wasn't made then, in my opinion, you would be correct.

Embrace the endless ocean and drown my ears with this song
tek kelimeyle; muhteşem;
Bıçağı elimle vuruyorum.
Keskin kenar cildi keser.
Yağmur-ıslak kuma kan damlar;
Yolculuğum başlayabilir.
Bir kez köle, ama şimdi özgürüm
Benim şerefim geri yüklendi!
Bir kez daha denizlere biniyorum
Sonunda özgür, kamçı ve kürekçi
Kılıcı kılıfa kaydırıyorum
Okyanus tanrısı bağırıyor
Ve denize doğru uzandıkça
Kırmızı çizgili yelkenleri yükseltiyoruz
Evimin kıyısını özledim
Donmuş göller ve kış karları ...
Ama şimdi rüyam açılmaya başlıyor.
Baba, eve geliyorum!
Fırtına, vicdan azabı geldi
Ve su rayları ezdi
Gemi ileri geri atıldı
Ve kuvvetli rüzgar yelkenleri söktü
Buzlu dalgalar cildimi kucaklıyor,
Uyuşuyorum
Sonsuz okyanus beni yutar
Bu benim soğuk ıslak mezarım olacak!
Evimin kıyısının esintisini hissetmeyecek
Gölleri veya kış karlarını da görmüyoruz ...
Umutlu hayallerim yırtılmış ve yırtılmış halde yatıyor
Baba, yalnız ölürüm, yalnız ölürüm!
Pure Genius!
...Wont feel the breeze, of my home shore nor see the lakes, or winter snow
My hopeful dreams, lie ripped and thorn! I die alone I die alone...
