- Oliva cigars are fast becoming one of my favourite cigars. In a previous video, I discussed how the Serie V belicosos is my favourite regular smoke. Due to this I have been exploring more and more new world cigars and the 135th from Oliva is the lastest in a long list of cigars I want try.

When I opened my box, it had a very strong chemical smell. The cigars smelled from it also. It is coming from the protective foam inside the box. It smells like it was dipped in paint thinner.
It’s the box. The bitterness is from whatever lacquer they used, or something they used in the construction of the box. Remove them from the box and give them a few weeks if rest in the humidor.
Lol nah. The inside of the box isn’t lacquered. Lots of cigar boxes are lacquered and the cigars don’t take on any bitterness. Bitter notes are characteristic of Sumatra wrapper, one of the reasons I’m not a huge fan of it.
hey awesome review! Just wondering when are you going to release the Partagas Maestro cigar Review?
Nice review. Finally someone taste the bitterness as me. Not uncommon in Oliva. I thought this was just my own problem before watching your review since no one mentioned it.
You can try a punch cut to prevent the unraveling
Enjoyed the video like always even tho I’m disappointed you didn’t like it that much. I’ve had a few and punch cut them all with no problem. My favorite pairing for this cigar is McDonald’s plain ice coffee 🤦♂️
Great & honest review as always Usman. I like Olivs’s, but think I’ll give this one a miss.
They are worth trying. If you see one in a local shop snag one or two.
im with you on the bitterness, so im smoking one per month see if there is particular aging period it needs
I am happy that you are not mad at them….
Olivas are great. My top 5 every day cigars are all new world cigars. The amount of money you pay for cubans to have 25% of the box straight garbage quality is just a pain in the ass. Although my last box of Bolivar Belicos finos was straight perfect !
Melanio Natural and Maduro on one of the best bangs for your buck.
I've never had one of these unravel. If you cut the top and are getting ragged edges, check the sharpness of your cutter. Also, try using a punch or V cut instead of a straight one.
I love Olivia and I’ve had allot of duds/mediocre sticks in the past 4 years.
Honestly have not had one bad Melanio since they came out
Yeah the one I smoked recently was bitter too.
Ive heard the paint on the inside of the box or the foam packaging is causing this. Melanio is the way to go
I totally agree with the bitterness
since oliva was bought out in 2016 they have gone down hill rapidly in construction and the leaf they use, they are now just a commodity cigar with a boutique price. if you can find any pre 2019's it's night and day, that must have been the turning point when the old tobacco was used up and the 2017-18 bales came into play.
idk man. The V Melanio both maduro and natural are pretty consistent to me
This is false
@@erickhines4121 they aren't going to buck you, rick, and they are now, by and large, garbage.
hi
How about try another one and smoke it the other way around???
I think will work better
It’s likely going to unravel soo just watch the cigar if you do try that.
The construction isn't bad. The box is horrendous and they take one hell of a beating in shipment. It's a shame. It's a great cigar if you find one in one piece.
Agreed. Buy a 5 pack
Crack the box open for 24/48 hrs and you won’t have that problem, i believe they are very fresh
Kept my 135 at 72% humidity for 3 and a half weeks in my humidor. Good flavors.. not to bad But ive had better for less tbh
Cuban Cigars are nice
ok?
V's aren't my first choice...
