So we are digging into five road bike myths that need to be debunked. To get some help, we're talking to three ex-pro riders that we're proud to have on our start list here at The Pro's Closet.

Provided one avoids the super-cheap, super-heavy junk bikes that can be had for very little money, and provided everything is working properly, 80-90% of the bike/rider unit's performance is the rider's weight, technique, and fitness, with fitness being #1. As for the "latest is greatest" myth, notably the one that Pro's Closet most wants us to disbelieve, it is no myth; the latest IS the greatest. How much greater, though? Enough to justify the price premiums? For the vast majority of us, no. Not even close. That's why buying a few-years-old professionally "certified" bike makes a lot of sense.
Nice Serotta built 7-11 Team Murray bike in the background! As for the myths. Sure you can say you busted them but to be honest sew-ups (tubulars) with 100-110 psi really do have a phenominal ride. These mated with light carbon wheels make a super sweet wheelset for any frame. That's my go to for riding these days. Clinchers maybe cheaper but not better. They don't have the same road feel. I would go further to say light weight bike is a 9 and aero a 5. Being in a peloton or group ride with drafting, aero doesn't help as much as light weight.
I dont know. Weight seems to matter at a certain point. I went from dailying a 1970s iverson then went to a giant ocr c3. I have never felt more of a difference in my life.
Bike fit is more important than all the other myths except tire pressure; tire pressure is relevant. Ride tubulars.
Did you guys hire the old Toyota United team??
What about “dropper posts don’t belong on road bikes”
You're not wrong!
Are these guys lovers?
As long as you have 7 to 10 speed that's all you'll ever need. Anything over 10 speed is overrated and overkill.
Notice that the last myth was self seving and you didn't ask the Pros. You're worse than GNC.
I take that back. No one's worse than them.
naw these guys are way worse then GCN. at least GCN has orginal content instead of just spamming ads into every bike content creator on the internet.
...ouch...
"these bike marketer types"...... he proceeds to talk shit about himself. the pros closet marketing is toxic and annoying AF stop paying for ads for every bike youtuber on the internet lmao.
