@@laraghamian8477 they shouldnt have had the princess diana part, ginger should not have gotten the russian character when that is literally katya's M.O. they could have come up with a different character for ginger to play. the look really hadnothing to do with it except for like 2 of them because most of the characters were from a time before cameras, so we dont know how they would have really looked because paintings were highly stylized to favor the beauty standards of the time. at the end of the day Katya was set up to fail.

I mean, as a Brit... Princess Diana’s dress was iconic BUT it was huge 😂😭 it was puffy, heavy and the train was SO LONG. How could Katya *possibly* have danced in a replica of it? 🙄🤷🏼♀️ I do think the dress she wore was a bit too simple and the fabric was way too shiny and thin, but I knew who she was right away before her part came up 🙄🤷🏼♀️ I don’t think it’s the worst likeness. She had a really bad set of choreography. It was just preening and the body rolls on the long note 🙄 they could have given her way better choreo. She could have lifted the dress up to the thigh to show some leg and been more sexy, or had a reveal to the “revenge dress” underneath 😂🤷🏼♀️ 90% of the problems with Katya’s part were choreography and that’s not her fault

And then told her that she "didn't steal the show" and "blended into the background"

@@airtempest8945 I saw both seasons, I've watched every episode of Alyssa's Secret, I saw her Werq The World tour episode, I've seen her Netflix show "Dancing Queen" 3X's and all I can say is, she is no more arrogant than most of those judgemental twats who are contestants on those shows. Most of them all they have is drag. Justin/Alyssa is THE most quotable QUEEN, she is fiercely talented, stunning, owns every stage like no other, she's an entrepreneur, a mentor, her students ADORE her immensely, she now has a gorgeous make-up collab pallet with ABH, has the longest lines @ Drag Con etc. etc. Katya said it herself on AS2 after she got eliminated "She is literally the most memorable creature to ever walk through those doors". To me she is literally the QUEEN of all these "queens" and in the words of Bianca Del Rio "I just love her to pieces". ❤

@@Xavier-xg9yt it really sucks too because the white dress she's wearing originally had a very long train but instead of accuracy she went for safety (ie: not wanting to trip during choreography herself or any of the other girls) and it's frustrating but I also get why the judges judged her the way they did.
Alyssa DEFINITELY deserved this win even though it was kinda handed to her. She at least made the most out of it and her outfit was awesome! She took the choreo and ran. So proud
Looking back I think they tried writing it so whoever played Eve or Annie would win but they couldn't give the win to Alaska because she obviously didn't know the words. The choreography didn’t even let her move from her spot on stage! Like, what did they want her to do? They gave her a little square to work in and an unfunny verse along with a diva whose most iconic look is a wedding dress known for its train which she couldn’t wear since it would inhibit her movement during her choreography in the other girls parts. She was screwed from the start

This was the best rusical imo, the worst queens in this weren't even that bad. Everyone knew their words, everyone knew where to go, and everyone knew what to do. Over all, this rusical definitely outshines all the others.

Ironically, I feel like they suit each other's parts better. Diana doesn't have a lot going on in her scene so the reliance is on facial expressions (which Ginger is the best at), plus if I remember correctly from an article I read she's a pageant girl so she would be able to exude the energy better. Catherines scene is raunchy/filthy, and that's the kind of thing Katya can lean into really well (since a lot of her work outside of the show is in the dark sex jokes vein) and the Russian accent would be the cherry on top. She could also incorporate some fun gymnastics things. I feel like that's what would have happened if they were allowed to pick their parts and weren't just assigned them.

Every one says that Katya was set up to fail, but like in my opinion she did great! I get it why she was kinda set up, but I thought she did great!
Katya did her best with the role but the writing seemed to make her character feel meager compared to the other over-the-top ladies. It's a shame. We could use more Princess Diana.

That wouldn’t make sense for the character though. I think Princess Di wasn’t a good choice as a “bad girl” of herstory because she wasn’t one. The most controversial thing surrounding Princess Di was that she got cheated on and died in a car crash. Even when she got divorced she dedicated her life to charity and helping children in 3rd world countries, so I don’t think there was any good material for her with this theme.

I love this lip sync so much, but I'm still so upset about it. They gave Katya such a subdued role despite her being insane, favourited Alaska way too much, didn't mention her horrible padding, gave Katya and Phi Phi the least funny verses, criticized Katya for her hair cut and dress as not being accurate but didn't mention Detox's Marie Antionette, didn't give the Russian queen a Russian role, completely brushed over the fact that Detox and Alaska barely knew the lyrics, cut out Tatianna and Coco despite their verses being the best, they set Phi Phi up to fail, they criticized Katya for characterization and choreography that she didn't have control over, and overall completely messed up on judging. I love Katya so much and I'm still angry that they screwed her over in this episode :(

Watching this back a couple years later, and this really was one of the best Rusicals, and the BEST cast of All Stars. Pretty much every performance was full of personality and was executed well. No one forgot the choreography or words and were really feeling it. We just don’t get it like this anymore on Rupaul’s overproduced rigged race.

I've never enjoyed these challenges because it's mostly about how the characters are written, I mean even if Katya went full batshit crazy on stage and did a reveal or something her written character is still worse than all the rest.
This is exactly why people hate season 7. All those scripted acting challenges where you cannot be creative at all (like at least do improv challenges but no). Imagine how great it could've been with better challenges because clearly it gave us some of the most iconic queens
Honestly I didn’t like Katya because season 7 wasn’t on Hulu so seeing her perform this as one of my first impressions of her was like “dang I guess season 7 was weak.” But when I saw her making her own rap in the finale and her doing the lip syncs I was shocked by how good she was and now I like her a lot.This was not a good representation of her talent at all
