In russian competitions where they use their own rules, seniors start at age 13, so that means that anna ( 15 ) and maria ( 14 ) can compete as seniors in Russia, on the other hand at competitions where they use the FIG rules anna and maria compete as juniors because gymnasts can only compete as seniors begening from janurary of the year they turn 16

Is Anna Popova (Russian) still a Junior?
yes, by FIG standards, but by the Russian Code of Points, no she can be Junior or Senior
So it really depends on what competition they're in to either be considered a junior or senior....they were considered seniors in the last competition
