Great vid and I’m into this new R7. I have a Svartpilen 701, 83 Suzuki RGV250 2 stroke as well as other small bore city rides (Monkey, Grom, Vespa 300). Don’t need too much tech or riding modes, nor do I need a good 100+HP. Just want to get out and ride anything, and enjoy it for what it is and provides. Been riding for years and always enjoyed the smaller and lighter bikes such as the Duke 390’s, Ninja 300 and the R3 is an awesome little bike. The Aprilia RS660 is one beautiful bike and I’m close to buying, but think this new R7 will just as equally provide me with what I’m after. Ride what you want and are in to :-)
This is what I wanted for a long time. Never loved I4s (Crossplane/V4 excepted). More torque, (to me) better sound, AND cheaper. A much better street machine.
this bike is garbage compared to a r6, like alot of people has said, Yamaha should of crowned this bike R4/R5. Honestly its basically a scam calling this bike an yzf-r7. It implies its a faster bike than r6 or even replaces it, and its not even in the same league by a long shot.

Man people just don’t realize this motor has the PERFECT AMOUNT of torque for the street, where 95% of this bikes life will be spent. It’s not all about hp on the street. And you will absolutely destroy in the corners effortlessly. I’ve ridden a 2004 ZX10R, a 2019 R1, a 2008 R6, 2014 Street Triple R, and a 2004 CBR600RR alongside owning a 2017 FZ07 and never wished for more power after getting back on my bike. NEVER. It always put a smile on my face. I just hope someone who wants to buy the bike, but is discouraged by the comments, to read mine and ignore the negative speculation. Go with your gut, you won’t regret it I promise.
Thanks for the solid review. I guess it all comes down to economics, you might disappoint a small portion of the population by not selling the badass sport bike, but if you’re gonna make money off the middle ground less exciting bike, you do it. As a middle-age guy with money to blow, I would buy the R7 way before I would buy the R6. I want something more tame that has reasonable power that’s also geared for around town. Never had much interest in a super sport bike. I imagine there’s a lot of people like me out there. If I ever am able to get a hold of one of these things, I will happily give it a try.
I like the bike, I do, but can't help but feel it's a little expensive for the package it is offering. I'm currently riding the 2020 Ninja 400 and having a blast but I do see myself getting a little more powerful bike in the near future. If the R7 made around 90-100 HP stock I might have been more tempted but atm I think I'll stick to my original plan and get the ZX6-R.
@@pratmak Actually in Japan where I live the price difference is pretty significant at $2200 (new). I might just pony up the difference or look for the zx6r in good condition used for cheaper.
@@shibapatrol801 oh yeah, I should have clarified where I live, the price difference is almost negligible. But, in your country, I can see why people would buy the R7.
Bro it's stupid to compare the r7 with any 600cc sportbike. One is a 2 cylinder, the other has 4. These are completely different engine layouts. One makes big torque down low and lacks top, the other makes peak performance up high but has nothing to offer down low. Are you going to be using the bike on the streets, or are you just gonna use it on the highway. There is a reason why one engine makes ~75hp and the other ~130hp, it's because they're nowhere the same.
Looks like a great bike for everyday riding and having some everyday fun. Not everyone needs to go 200mph and spend 15k. Great bike for fun and good looks.
If it's A2 compliant and Euro5 certified it would be a nice commuter bike for those who want to look sporty on a tight budget, it is after all a cheapy bike.
It's got under 95hp, so it's restricatble for the A2 licence, like the mt07. 9k is also not a chapy bike, if you want to look sporty on a tight budget you get a 300

I barely put 700 miles on my R3 before getting a bigger bike. I ride it the other day and felt like I was going to fall over on it, Maybe the lightness is throwing me off a bit but it feels unsafe to me now.
I have some experience on the 2021 model on both track and street. Street ride is not comfortable due to the aggressive riding style. However on the track, the R7 is a potent weapon and it will bring a lot of confidence out of you to try harder to get better lap times.

Comparing it to the Ninja 650 would be better; a "sporty" (but not completely "sport") bike that you can tuck-and-rip with when you want and sit upright and cruise comfortably with when you want. How's the adjustability on those forks and the rear shock? One click on some bikes makes a huge difference because the suspension is actually built to a standard. I am a previous FZ-07 owner so the suspension is my #1 doubt about the bike. Everything else from the price to the power is great on the street. This is a street ike first and people coming about the power. 70hp on the street with a handful of torque is plenty fun and exciting already.
The void between the R3 and R1 was already filled by the R6... The 67hp R7 and +200 hp R1 are still a world apart. Imo... 67hp doesn't excite me very much and the R7 would bore me very quick.

@@TommyAngelo1337 Nice thanks for the info . For me i don't want others supersport to follow This . We won't be able to ride our bikes on street than . No more roadtrip 😢
Ride what you want and are in to :-)
Now we just need Suzuki to release a new SV650S
facts. i hope the design is nice tho i havent been liking any of their new designs besides the GSXR1000 or the new hayabusa
Nah SV is trash, there's a reason you never see them on the street.
@@Nexumis actually it compares it to the old predecessor r7 which was an inline-4 700cc. but people should boycott shit bikes like this. they need to get their shit together and make a better bike for cheaper otherwise who the fuck is actually buying these shits?!?!?!?!?
Yamaha Sales : This is a GP bike for you
Me : GP? You mean Grand Prix bike? Cool!!!
Yamaha Sales : No no no, General Purpose bike

Picking my 60th GWP R7 in two weeks. I am beyond ecstatic.
I agree and especially since the zx6 is only a 1000 more, it makes so much sense.
@@pratmak R7- 68HP, ZX-6R 130HP.
It's a no brainer.
I think I'll stay with my trusty, more powerful, and still handsome 2011 GSX-R750
They need to make an R7-R with a tuned MT-09 engine in it.... That bike would definitely sell well.
Just get this one and tune it yourself
Excellent overview 👍 Perfect step for R3 riders. sound of twin cylinders 👍
Thats what im thinking, made trade my 2020 R3 in for the R7. Should be a big upgrade to riders at my level for the most part
Looks like a great bike for everyday riding and having some everyday fun. Not everyone needs to go 200mph and spend 15k. Great bike for fun and good looks.
Love the reviews on this channel
They just announced you get free jean shorts and new balance sneaks with every purchase!!
I’ll take mine with some mom-jeans💯
If it's A2 compliant and Euro5 certified it would be a nice commuter bike for those who want to look sporty on a tight budget, it is after all a cheapy bike.
It's got under 95hp, so it's restricatble for the A2 licence, like the mt07. 9k is also not a chapy bike, if you want to look sporty on a tight budget you get a 300
Theres so many reviews on this bike jeez , im buying one anyway they sound nice with an exhaust and they could be for the chill twisty mountain days
I put 1k miles on my 2021 R3. I love it, growing out of it doesnt seem to be inevitable for me. Everytime i see it in my garage i want to take it out lol
@@nightnday6675 And there is where the R7 would suite your purpose, unless of course you want the r3 to wring out its gears.
I barely put 700 miles on my R3 before getting a bigger bike. I ride it the other day and felt like I was going to fall over on it, Maybe the lightness is throwing me off a bit but it feels unsafe to me now.
@@tonydtiger1925 lol i stand corrected. Im gonna get a bigger bike soon. Im trying to sell my R3 now lmao
@@tonydtiger1925 How much have you been riding before the 700miles on your r3?
Your gear looks badass, my dude. Cool bike to go with it 👌
R7 would be a beast in 1985, but in almost 2022 it sounds to me more like beginner track bike than something what could be called real R bike.
Stunters are going to love it.
I love that blue! God it's like a royal blue I love it
Holy crap, I'm gonna have to seriously lock this up before bringing it to the track for some fun
Love how they maintain the pure sound of the bike...very unique
I have some experience on the 2021 model on both track and street. Street ride is not comfortable due to the aggressive riding style. However on the track, the R7 is a potent weapon and it will bring a lot of confidence out of you to try harder to get better lap times.
2020 R6 sells for $24000 USD here in Taiwan. But I’ll buy one if they can make 2022 R6 or 2022 600rr sellable here.
It’s not about price.
Even R7 is like $13000 USD here. Coming in the fourth season presumably.
more like RT-07. I would rather get a Suzuki S1000 for $1000 more.
At last people start to understand that it doesn't take much power to have fun, quite the opposite
we're far from that bro
Exactly, torque is way more fub
Based on the comments, that doesn’t seem to be the case
@@shittywheelies7403 they probably havent experienced it yet 🤔
@@Nick-dz4ml I think he means, that people still haven't realised that smaller displacement bikes make more fun
I remember when a brand new 05 08 r1 cost no more than 10k and r6 were 7k need to get back to that
Discontinuing the R6 and start a new R7 is the worst decision Yamaha has ever made
They cant help that no one is buying the r6..
Im a beginner and I’m really debating between this and the MT-07, SV650, or CB650R
yeah the bike is cool BUT the riding gear Adma is using? thats fire! from the one-piece suit to the helmet and gloves it fits 100%
Missed opportunity to use the CP3 engine imo
Honestly the bike is based off perspective. The R7 is just going to be a sexy ass bike that will give me a good kick from me ol R3.
so this is an mt-07 with fairings. Hard pass
They did put a better fork on, and some better brakes up front. Not as good as the R6 but better than the MT. But calling it the successor to the FZ-6R (vs. the R6) might be more appropriate.
@@rs232killer but I don't remember seeing yamaha saying this is the sucessor of the r6 either, its what people have been telling themselves in the comments
It, basically, is an MT-07 with fairings, but 4 cyl 600cc are dying, no one wants them anymore, so that's why yamaha had to do something different. They gave you the look of a "crutch rocket" with daily usability of a naked bike.
@@Faceless_Chat i love the r7, I would also have loved a small cc 4clyinder like the ninja250rr. But sadly that's not sold in the European market
Not an MT07 with fairings at all. Dope bike
Damn that's a dope helmet-onsie combo
I don't recall being this uninterested by a bike before.
Its a great reliable option for the price in my opinion.
@@abyedrikn Can't say I hate it, I'm sure it's a good bike that platform/engine has work very well for Yamaha, but it seems like they had just ran out of ideas, and said "bugger it, let's just stick on a fairing and see who will but it"
@@rodger7541 I don't think they ran out of ideas, R6 wasn't selling much so they will make quiet a bit money with this bike I presume, especially in European market.

@@the.communist not enough power for anyone considering buying a zx6, r6, cbr600 etc…I could put my 21 zx6 on low power mode and probably still smoke an r7. Playback speed at 1.25x and enjoy
No mention of it in the video but those clip ons don’t look terribly low.
For roughly the same price you can get the base zx6r and is leaps faster and better in every way
Great review!
Not sure why i see everyone comparing this to the r6, theyre completely different classes of bikes. Comparing it to the Ninja 650 would be better; a "sporty" (but not completely "sport") bike that you can tuck-and-rip with when you want and sit upright and cruise comfortably with when you want. Atleast thats my view on it.
Good review! Thanks!
Good vid bro, maybe get a buzz cut or taper with ur hair style? How does it compare to aprilla rs660?
I think this is a great looking bike, My reservations are in regards to the power output. It should nowhere near be regarded as a super sport class bike. A road racer?
Yamaha are strange with their titles. They call the MT125 and MT03 "Hyper nakeds"
Just for reference: the Aprilia RS660 has just over 85hp at the back wheel and weighs in at 400lbs. wet...
And the rs660 costs more than an R6, witch the R6 is a better bike.
Question for video crew, are you guys using the new Sony cameras?
I just google the R7! Great timing.
This is first video I've seen with the Blue R7 that shows what that darker fairings true color is. I thought it was black, but it's a dark blue.
Listen I get soooo many compliments on my r7 even when I’m my group is bikes twice the price lol. There’s one universally hated part tho : the Stock Exhaust!!
R 15 v4 also coming 🥰
Nice bike, but the equivalent in Suzuki 👍being the venerable GSXR750 is much much better in every aspect. Better looking, better handling, bulletproof engine with more power & sweet sweet gearbox, and priced much lower 👍 why wouldnt you go with such tried and tested legendary bike? 🤔
The single headlight kinda kills the look of the bike Yamaha had the best duel headlight look out there
67 hp? What am I supposed to do with that? Cut the grass?

Does anyone have news about the retired R3, will there be a new one? I'm looking to buy one but it's not available in my country cuz of the new euro norm that's coming up.
70 HP supersport? Ah no, more like fine tuned beginners bike.
Right? The ergos are still very aggressive and cramped but it has a more relaxed power band, I don't get it at all
@@justinpapin6397 Me neither. I can see people buying an R7, much like an MT-07, and be craving more power in no time. Perhaps not, but it would be pretty embarrassing to be riding a serious looking bike like the R7, and get your ass handed to you by some greaseball riding a Harley.
Hope the R7 will come to Malaysia, because I will get it
Why would anyone choose to buy a racing suit and helmet in BEIGE?
I’m starting to believe You Tube’s algorithm is starting to mock me about my hair.
R7 has too little power for me, i wouldve loved to see the MT09 as a supersportbike to really have some power in the twisties while having the great look of a supersport.

So when does yamaha replace r3 with an r4?

This is a grear SuperSport for tracks , its usable for the streets , and the pretty flat torque curve also helps in the track !

@@24james supersport usually refers to the visuals and the ergos , just like the way a naked bike is naked.
"Supersport ***style***". Well said.
How does this compare to Honda CBR 650R 2022?
This would have been a good bike to have adjustable height handlebars. It has potential as a sport tourer or daily commuter, but instead it has sport bike ergos yet a fairly low output engine.
Perhaps are they internally working on a new cheaper version of the R6 or are they completely abandoning it? It was a superb bike.
