I love both the Two Ronnies and Not The Nine O'Clock News, which to this day, is the only decent "alternative comedy" program. I think the Two Ninnies sketch is hilarious personally. I can appreciate both programs. I mean hell, I like NTNON and yet my two favorite comedians are Ronnie Barker and Benny Hill (the two kings of innuendo and wordplay).
@FleshEatingZombie666 maybe so, but the Two Ronnie's was still going when Not The Nine O'Clock News was cancelled. Though both of them still make me laugh to this day.
It would just be called 'March of the Finnish Cavalry' in English, which I think is a direct translation. It's not well known in Britain, strange the Two Ronnies used it.
Because it not a G & S sketch, it is a sketch about the yeoman of the guard who have an existence outside G & S. Their history goes back centuries. There is none of Sullivan's music used in the sketch.
Interesting that The Two Ronnies are still popular as ever whereas Not The Nine O'Clock News is barely remembered by most. Not that surprising either as most of it was rubbish second rate Python lite.
this so reminds me of the not the nine o clock news piss take called the two ninnies. properly takes the piss out of the two ronnies and shows how dated there comedy actually was
The Two Ronnies was only still going because Ronnie Barker had massive clout at the BBC and wanted to keep it going. Not the Nine O'Clock News was never cancelled - the producers and cast decided to end it whilst it was at the top, and because Rowan Atkinson wanted to make Blackadder, which was a better show than anything the Ronnies ever made.
@@CA-ee1et To say that Blackadder "was a better show than anything the Ronnies ever made" is a subjective opinion on your part to which you are of course entitled, but it is certainly not a fact.
I didn´t think of the Two Ronnies as such brilliant musical artists and singers!
What say you now?
the two Ronnies are always phenomenal - but the Queen at the end of the skit was TOO fabulous!!!!
i can't believe how accurate this IS to yeomen. wow.

Those were the days
Well crafted comedy and entertainment.
Very funny in the end with the Queen....
"We like birds, we're ornithologists..."
With a spotty botty wee wee... ;-0
Whoops, tickle a diIdo!
I'd forgotten just how funny they were. Ah what innocent times.

Fab two ronnies 🌟🌟
I do miss the 2 Ronnies. Such a miss to comedy.
🤣🤣Superb!!
it only they was something like this on tv now
@DazVoz LOL.. took the words right out of my mouth!
priceless...

Barker’s spectacles are much more appropriate than Corbett’s to this sketch.
We British are lucky to very funny comedians.
What is the melody of the first song called in English. In Swedish it's called "Finska rytteriets marsch" it is a Swedish and Finnish military march.
It would just be called 'March of the Finnish Cavalry' in English, which I think is a direct translation. It's not well known in Britain, strange the Two Ronnies used it.
good
👍👍
I remember the joke of lizzy putting the milk bottle out at the end
I didn't really get that joke. Someone care to explain?
@@JongleurJ10 if you watch the video carefully, its self explanatory
@@Keithbarber Is it Peter Cook?
@@RUBBER_BULLET ??????
@@Keithbarber Is it Peter Cook as the Queen? I'm guessing that it is a cameo, to me it looks like it might be Cook.
At first I thought this was actually going to be the original YOTG show. Nope. While I couldn't understand many of the words, it's a laugh riot.

The hafts they refer to are called Partisans.
Confused at why 'On The Road To Mandalay' is in a G&S sketch?

Does anyone know the names of all the songs quoted here?

@John Quigley HAHAHAHA Good joke!
Funny thing is that Not The Nine O'Clock News was cancelled, and Two Ronnies was still on the box...
Ka tish I think they say touche
You can't really measure the two programmes, they were entirely different comedy...
Pablum mate. The Two Ninnies isn't *funnier* per se than the Two Ronnies; it's an apposite and needed piss take of the Ronnies' hypocrisy.
I thought this was like Gilbert and Sullivan’s Operetta...
There was a small musical quotation at the beginning.
I calls that a travesty!
Interesting that The Two Ronnies are still popular as ever whereas Not The Nine O'Clock News is barely remembered by most. Not that surprising either as most of it was rubbish second rate Python lite.
Python sold scripts to all of them. As they say themselves. They aren't actors. They are writers
Cobblers mate. The Two Ninnies perfectly sent up The Two Ronnies and their pretence to being a family show while stuffing it (oo er) full of innuendo.
Comedy genius, which doesn’t exist anymore, just people who think they’re funny or cheap jokes.
Good, but not as good as the not the nine oclock one.
this so reminds me of the not the nine o clock news piss take called the two ninnies. properly takes the piss out of the two ronnies and shows how dated there comedy actually was
Well, not the nine o clock news actually ended. They didn't drag it on like the two ronnies
