    So glad to have instructions for my new used server, I can hardly wait to use it 👍😀👏👏

    Thank you for taking the time to upload this VHS video tutorial. While it is a bit dated and not perfect, it was a wonderful resource for me. I took my iPad right beside the serger and step by step followed the instructions (and yes, it was confusing a few places), but my serger is now working correctly - and boy was I proud of myself. I don't think I could have done it just with the manual, which I have. I needed the visual to help me along. Thank you again.

    I am so frustrated with threading! I'm getting old and trying to thread that first thread takes me forever! But I am so thankful you made this video. It is my serger and you give excellent instructions. Thank you very much!

    Your instructions are very thorough. You have definitely taken the fear out of threading my machine. My machine was one of the machines that was
    purchased, but never, ever used! Lucky me! All these years later I have a brand new serger! Now I hope to be able to put your great instructions to work. Wish me luck!

    Hi I am from the UK and my machine is the same as speedy lock but a 2013 mode called Decorl but with a cutter, I guess they are still making them. I never got a DVD with mine and this clip has been so useful to thread my machine i understood it completely mine threads up each time. very grateful you uploaded the video.

    Note the info @ 6:21 to 6:31 of the video. This is key to ALL sergers. If the loopers don't get threaded in the proper order, it will NOT form a stitch. This has/will be one of the greatest frustrations to all new serger operators. Thanks for the close-up of this detail.

    Thanks! For posting this! Received a used one as a gift. Don't have a VCR. Those manual instructions do not help illustrate the looper threading well. (Starts around 4:50)

    bfinfinity This is not myzombiemom's video. This is a video that should have come with your speedylock when you bought it. It originally was on VHS. I'm SO GRATEFUL that this is on UA-cam, and personally had no trouble following it.

    I've had my serger for years, and every time it breaks a thread, I have to give up because re-threading it makes me crazy. I've now read this entire thread of comments. I"m going to get one of those dust blowers (I've already brushed it out), and NEW THREAD, and get some help with the tension. And then I will try threading it again. I've been threading it for 3 hours tonight and I cannot get it to work. The top threads are doing all right. NOTHING on the bottom. I have checked and re-checked that I've done it right, and it continues to not work. If anyone knows any secret I don't know Please Tell Me. I do them in the right order. I've go no idea what's going on. So frustrated!!!

    I have a speedylock. A video came with it. They might as well have not bothered, so many shots of the back of her head and her arm at CRITICAL points, that made the whole thing USELESS. You did much better, only fuzzed out by your hair twice, and one great shot of the back of your ARM when we needed to see the machine. So far, so good, this IS an improvement...I never got to tell anyone about the useless video that CAME WITH my serger. Did anyone else TRY to use the manufacturers video? (1634)

    This is the part i agree with you on i can't decide which side the lower loop thread is suppose to go back thru to the right after i've hooked the thread into the lower looper... and i'e tried both way too many times to count.. it just always seems to be confussing...(step 9 and 10 on digram in the book shows to go behind the looper and return it infront of the looper... it pulls the thread out...??? Do you have a preference that works better for you??

  • @nancyfork7959

    And yes, these machines are a major frustration for me related to threading. The stiches keep failing in some parts. I already changed to three new needles and did not work. I then also noticed that my machine did not come with that part just above the needle that keeps the thread closer to the needle, the little plate. Mine never had did. Instead, it came in the little box but there is no way to attach to to machine. I am really upset that I cannot use my machine. I have tried everything and no way I will pay for someone to fix it. They charge too much. Sell it for less.

    Hi, Thank you so much for these videos! I have a question on how to serge MULTIPLE LAYERS:
    I have this kind of White Speedylock 1600 - could you or any of the viewers please tell me to adjust for multiple layers (3 to 4) on the Speedylock 1600, please? On other sergers, there's a screw one can tighten ... how is it done with this machine, please? My threads go totally wonky when I try more than 2 layers :( I just had it serviced.

    • @myzombiemom
      @myzombiemom 8 років тому

      +Yvonne S i haven't tried that many layers, but here on this site, some said it will work..maybe you can ask there..? www.mothering.com/forum/66-arts-crafts/416281-okay-so-white-speedylock-1600-a.html

    I have the speedylock 2000 ATS and haven't used in a few years. Having so much trouble with my lower looper thread breaking. I rethread over and over again, and only get a few stitches..then it breaks again. Sooo frustrating. Maybe something here will help...

      you can use the machine with 1 needle, but its is a different edge, not the serger. Broken needles, I just use the tool and loosen the broken needle and pull it out. Add a new needle. Tighten back up and re-thread the machine. adjust the tension again if needed. Good Luck

  • @lorashep

    My thread keeps breaking. What am I doing wrong. It’s the lower looper thread. What should the tension be on ?

    • @Vision4families

      I just got the 1600 from an estate sale. Maybe we can help each other. My lower looper was very tight and when I sewed, the thread bunched up. After digging all the thread out, I made it easier to pull through by a whole number (#3). I'm ready to stitch for the second time. I'M AFRAID!!! lol The other threads pulled through very nicely and I thought I'd have trouble with the 'tight' one. Are you still using yours?

    • @myzombiemom

      +Sandy Depew my issues with breaking, (for me) was either dusty/cleaning where the thread guides are.. the thread order, old thread (they can break down over time), or tension.

  • @bfinfinity

    Okay, when I bought mine, I was offered a one time lesson by Hancock Fabric store, which I accepted and drove over an hour to take, It WAS GREAT! But she said never pull the thread backwards through the tension, and yet you see saw it up and down, back and forth.....Is yours different from a 1634? Does it REALLY MATTER? All these years I have always cut the thread or tied it to the other color and then pulled it through, but NEVER pulled it out backwards. I understood it damaged something......?

    cont. Am I blind? I am sorry, but when you thread the lower looper, and you POINT out that the "lower looper thread is above the upper looper" Okay, I hear you, but I really cannot SEE it. You need to step up the quality of your camera: ie more pixels per square inch. I put it on full screen and that was even worse. OR you can use flashing fluorescent thread, or put a SPOTLIGHT on it. Seriously, I thought I had good vision, but I can't SEE it. Help me here, okay?

  • @bfinfinity
    @bfinfinity 11 років тому +1

    Okay, you didn't make this one, you just uploaded it. That is fine, but if you COULD POSSIBLY actually MAKE a good video that does not feature the back of someones head or arm or shoulder, but ACTUALLY shows the machine and it's parts and what you are verbally describing at the same time as you are talking about it, THAT WOULD BE REALLY SUPER NICE! And THANK YOU!

      Did you make your own video? All the comments are right. I can't see in the first place and especially if there is a head of hair in the way!! lol I see the 'hook' for the lower looper but can't figure out how to see it let alone get to it. I'm just a beginner.
