Onan DJB 6 0 First Start 2nd Attempt

I got a helpful comment about the Onan in the last video.

If that unit has set for any amount of time, the return elbow fiitting at the top of the injection pump has a check valve that will stick closed. This will cause fuel not to flow to the injectors. Pull that fitting off, clean it with some carburetor cleaner, and it should free up."

This is a nice unit! I wouldn't give up on it. Im sure that there is some kind of rack in the pump that is just stuck. Get a diagram of the pump. It will be whatever is tied to that shut off lever. I wish it was mine! Keep us posted please

I haven't worked on it since last Summer. I agree that the pump needs gum cleaned out of it and probably the injectors. Unfortunately, from what I have seen, it is real easy to screw up one of these pumps just by removing it. I'll get back at it someday. Probably during the next power outage, LOL!

Never heard of a check valve but there is a plate in the injection pump that can break if its stuck. Ambac m50 injection pump. Parts are still available if you contact them direct.

Yah, I didn't find a check valve. After watching other peoples videos I now know that the throttle lever should be free and should go all the way to the top at start up. Mine only moves about half way up and sticks. That means I need to work on the injection pump, not good.

Replace that oil filter with a fram synthetic XG8, you will never regret it. It has a grip top and is 1.5 inches taller so you can get a hold of it instead of the counter sunk PH16

Loosen the nuts at the top of each injector and see if you have fuel to the injectors when cranking. You have a fuel delivery problem. Is there a priming pump near the fuel pump?

Pretty sure we covered that in the videos. To re-cap, we have pressure to the injection pump but nothing coming out of the injector lines. Removed and checked the lines. Even with them off nothing comes out of the pump. One viewer suggested that the check valve above the pump might be stuck.

Any updates? I have the same one. Was it the check valve? I'm not getting fuel to flow, tried pumping it. I will have to open up the valves to free it up.

I didn't find a check valve. I think the pump is gummed up from 30+ year old fuel. I haven't had a chance to work on it since last Summer.
