As usual, PowerbookMedic to the rescue. I cannot express my deepest appreciation for your videos, efforts to get them made and available to us technicians in the field or in my case paying for myself to no longer be homeless by succeeding in Apple repairs. I bless you for your sharing of your the proper techniques to get my clients up and running quickly. If you have any canned food I would gladly email you my address. Thank you very much!!
Warning : at 7:25, when the left speaker is removed, there is a small wire that is connect on the powersupply and if you only disconnect it and pull the speaker out, you will break it, because the other end is connect somewhere under. But in this video, they don't show it, and worst, they cut the video of that part and the wire dissapear.
What was wrong with the magnets that used to hold the front glass on? I swear, sometimes Apple makes design decisions that make their products less serviceable on purpose.
yeah. I couldn´t believe that there were no magnets or screws. My screen just fell out because the glue of the tape dried out. And to upgrade ram you must disassembly all the computer.
What do you use to stick the screen back, a specific kit or double-sided tape? I need to paste one of these screens that I have removed to change graphics chip
I have a 21.5" iMac just like this one - is there any possibility of swapping out the stand with an VESA mount when you have it torn apart like this? I didn't realize that I could have ordered mine with the VESA mount, and Apple says that they don't do retrofits on them :-/
Hi, I have successfully replaced the drive but now the screen is lose and doesn't re stick itself down. What would you recommend to secure the screen back to the mac?
Well... thanks for the helpful tutorial... except for one thing. When you are explaining the part about de-threading the cable to the power button while removing the first speaker, you really need to emphasize how important that part is and how easy it is to pull the cable out of the power button, thus rendering the entire housing completely useless. In your video, you mention it, and then the frame jumps to a completed section. You really need to slow that part down. I have just found this out the hard way and am now going to have to throw my IMAC in the bin. Cheers.
minimalmayhem replaced my power supply and the freaking power button wire broke. How does something so small ruin the computer? I’m so pissed right now.
Yes, it's safe and the Mac will work normally so long as you don't damage something in the process. If you aren't sure if you can do the repair, it would be best to have a professional do it.
Because most, if not all Aluminum iMacs can get mind-blowingly hot WITH the fans in them! I learned this from having three Aluminum iMacs varying from different models, generations, and specs. Besides, it's pretty much always best to have something push all the hot air out of a computer.
It just SUCKS how hard it is to replace the harddrive in this iMac. despite what is said in this video: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE FAN in order to remove the harddisk! Good video though! Thanks pal! helped me a lot.
Can you please tell me how I can move the LCD cable from the chassis (to replace with a new one, I damaged one side of the LCD cable that goes to the logo board) It seems to be really hard to remove from the chassis.... So I have a new cable to replace it, however need help on how to remove the old cable from behind the LCD display)?

Thank you for you magnificent disassembly videos. Your work is very much appreciated.
how do you put the screen back on after you took it off and the glue also??
Thank you for this video. Especially to someone that always works with PC's.
WesDarylCreed Glad we could help!

Does the heat gun effect the components inside?
Very helpful 👌
Excuse this model support SSD NVMe?
Very good video.

Is this video also for SCREEN replacement an iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015) MK142X/A?
It is possible to change the Front Glass Panel? It is possible to take off the LCD from the Glass? And put it on a new Glass?

+Mark Vickers - You can use double-sided adhesive strips
Well... thanks for the helpful tutorial... except for one thing.

I have been looking for extension cables for the display to the logic board. Anyone aware if this is possible?
how many sata conctors are on the logicboard? can i plug in a second HDD or SSD? or do i have to buy a special cable?
Is this safe and will the mac still work normally?

just wondering.. why would the still use fans when they have the entire case made of aluminum?

Not unless you are applying excessive heat.
HELP ! I FUCKED UP SO HARD WITH THE SPEAKER WITH THE POWER CABLE AND RIPED IT!! Tell me I can replace that?!
This unit is beautiful but designed without service or maintenance in mind. Come on apple engineers everything in due time or accidentally breaks
isnt it dangerous to heat up the screen?
Not if you're careful and do not apply too much heat to any one position for an extended amount of time.
hey where can i download this music i really like the music
i was able to replace the ram
Hopefully you didn't pick the soft music for apple. Linux Ubuntu deserves the soft music.
I wouldn't dare to open mine
This thing has to be made and put together by robots.
Apple and their shitty design. A nightmare for techs.
