Satan and the devil are actually two separate beings, Satan being the prince and embodiment of wrath, while Lucifer the prince and sin of pride is the devil, not Satan.

Yes, ya' are right, and actually in the 89 anime (the prequel to this one) Lucifer was another demon and was over the orders of Tougaku Taitei (The main evil demon from the original anime).
As for Satan, he was imprisoned in the first movie by the original Akuma Kun (Shingo Umoregi)
