- While the Suzuki RM-Z250 has remained stagnant over the years, the 2022 model has, as expected, no changes from the 2021 model. We took delivery of the 2022 Suzuki RM-Z250 and instead of our traditional intro, we decided to move forward with our Race Spec segment instead to benefit you.
In this segment of RACE SPEC, we spend a day testing with the 2022 Suzuki RM-Z250 and pinpoint what might just be the perfect set-up for you. Check it out!

I wish Suzuki would get it together , but that being said ,still think it is one of the nicest looking bikes~! that yellow and blue looks sharp~!
Easily the sexiest looking bike
They are very good bikes dude!
Definitely the best looking bike
Suzuki DOES have it together but they dont pay off the magazines. What do they all say? The suzuki is "heavy". You know what it weighs? 228 lbs. You know what the 2023 yz250f weighs? 228 lbs. You know what the wet weight of a 2003 zy250f was? 229 lbs. Its all bullshit.
@@dinglesdingler1211 It also obviously doesn't bother them too much since MXA rated the *lightest in class* CRF250R second to last. If weight mattered so much, that 219 lb 250F woulda been much higher on the list. The Suzy is down ~3HP what it should be, but it also is a very good platform to build out. They also were the first to do dual injectors. $8000 out the door for a stock bike, and then $3000 in ignition, high comp piston, pipe, and ported head, and some free airbox mods and modified torque specs, and you've got a bike that will fight toe to toe with ANY other mod 250F, while still carving out underneath them.
If you can't live with a kick-start, you probably should park the moto bikes and buy a minivan.
I'm 160lbs, my suspension guy did a 4.8 front and (I think) a 50 rear spring with 103mm of sag and it feels awesome
Do you think it would be fine if you are 195 without gear on
@@mustknowinfo2001 it depends on what kind of pace you ride at. If you race c class it will probably be too hard. It never hurts to contact a suspension technician and inquire with them
@@MrSuperflydude ya its a fast track not many big jumps im probably more of a b class rider
@@mustknowinfo2001 hello. What front fork settings do you use? how many clicks comp and reb? thank you guys.. :-)
@@michallpavelka sounds like you click it down as soft as possible
And here come the comment from the majority of ppl who couldn't even ride this machine to its fullest potential
Manufactures change their MX bikes more often than they actually improve them. This bike has seen very few changes in over a decade, and yet its still within a stones throw of being competitive with bikes that have seen yearly changes as well as some models that have been completely redesigned multiple times in the last decade or so. This bike is still a solid performer after all these years. Bottom line is if you race motocross you will likely have similar results regardless if your on the latest and greatest YZ250F or this long in the tooth RMZ250.
In the beginning of the video you say these adjustments will work if you've bought one in the last decade or so...... they had showa sff back in '14, and I have a '17 with the kayaba psf2, and in '19 they went back to the conventional spring fork. I totally understand why yall don't care for the bike but maybe just try a little harder then redheaded step child love when making videos for suzuki
Lol I also thought to myself wtf? Haha
Suzuki might be the heaviest bike and the slowest but after seeing what James Stewart did on his it doesn’t seem slow. It may not have that immediate throttle response that the yamaha, Kawasaki and the other bikes have but it stands its ground
Some reality check: KX250 is currently the heaviest. RMZ is one of the lightest 250s out there.
I feel like suzuki has a very great record for previous champs, Rc , Pastrana even stewart and reed . Its a shame the yellow machine doesnt get more love
Dungey, alessi, and roczen too. Many people seem to forget how dominant Suzuki was just because they don’t have an electric start lol.
Love this bike! Its fast an bulletproof. Im not a pro! Im a 40+ Vet class intermediate. I will buy one shortly .
I'm 6'4, 190lbs, and this is the first bike I've sat on that the suspension felt stiff enough for my weight and leverage.
hello. What front fork settings do you use? how many clicks comp and reb? thank you guys.. :-)
where can you buy the recomended springs ?
He is right on every word he said. I just got it and its overspung (I knew that when I bought it but i also know the package is good) and the damn thing will still turn like it's on rails! I am going to see my suspension guy this week problem solved. If you like it do not let a set of springs hold you back because I already love the bike.
MASTA PING DAWG 👊 Whats some good soultions for more power ??
Im buying this bike when ive saved the money because i just want to be a weekend warrior and then rip it up in the woods , have fun! I feel like this bike is the perfect bike if you dont care about all the speed and torque cus most of us aint the best riders lets be honest! Soften the suspension and ur good! 🤙🏼
You will love it! It's an excellent MX or fun bike. Run a great engine oil like Maxima full synthetic 10w40 an will last forever. Maxima sells pre oiled filters to ! Motosport.com
Hey Ping, love that helmet ! Is that a new TLD model ? If it is, what is the model ?
If I had to guess it’s the new se5 model
C'mon Suzuki...show the mx bikes some love! Let's get some upgrades. On the positive, this is still a great bike and cheaper.
Suzuki just needs a investor and then they could make a big come back
@@mrmotocross6819 Sad part is will not happen now - next up is no more bikes due to 'emissions'.
It's definitely not the machine it's the operator
Go the Rm, I love them.
Back Suzuki the Champions motocross...2022
Hey Ping when changing the springs, what oil weight did you use?
I’m a vet B rider and surprise I like softer ride
But I’m 195 would this work for me or keep stock springs? Thanks Ping! 👍
Love this bike!
hello. What front fork settings do you use? how many clicks comp and reb? thank you guys.. :-)
Thanks Ping. You are the best!
Would like to know what needs to be done to the mapping if a after market Exhaust is added does it need a vortex ignition
Yes but I hear the lean coupler works well.
Hey that's the gear that reads, well I bet you know what it reads lol. I thought they pulled that kit!
Lmaoo
is this bike also good for trail riding or just for motocross racing
Cool. No nonsense positive information.
i'll disagree on the great deals, at least in my area. I can get a left over 21 yz250f for 7999 or a 21 kx250 for 7299. 22 rmz250 is 7899 in my neck of the woods. then i have to spend money to change springs? naw. if they were like 6799 no doubt.
Same. The only deals I ever seen in my area may be a few hundred less. To me its worth the few hundred for the updates other brands have such as electric start. Going from a 2005 crf250 to a 2019 ktm 450f has spoiled me haha 😆
@@dustinsmith9822 I bet bro. I remember when I bought my 2018 kx450. It was a huge upgrade from my cr250r.
Hey man. What helmet is that? Is it a new Troy Lee or did I totally miss that coming out?
SuzukiRM my 2nd choice pretty boy yellow.
If you can ride don't matter the bike.
When was the last 250 win on a Suzuki? Would have to be Anderson? He's almost retired....
Also like when was the last time Ktm won in the 250’s…
Hunter rode one in MXGP MX2 class right?
Why the hell do you guys use imperial measurements for body weight, height, speed, distance, etc.. and then use newtons for spring rate? Not criticising, just confused..
I think using the imperial system for spring rate is just confusing because it would be pointless fractions and shit. Newton’s are way easier and everyone else uses it so why not 🤷♂️
@@williamsnow417 No no, you misunderstood me, what I mean is that they should use metric for everything. Imperial is obsolete.
@@williamsnow417 I'm a mountain biker and the way imperial and metric are mixed in the sport pisses me off so much. Imperial for spring-rate, pressure, wheel size and tyre width, but metric for basically everything else.
@@th_js oh I know I hate the imperial system but I think they’ve started to realize how dumb it is so they used Newton’s for spring rate but kept everything the same because they’re used to it
@@williamsnow417 Seems like that could be the case
once they get the E.Start on the rmz they will be hundreds more than nowadays,... but idk what the hell are they doing, oh wait, nothing...
I need a new bike simce getting parts sucks right now
Worst part is I’m thinking about getting one and I’m 105
Why🤦?
Hah hah haa,museum bike!
They are great, and yes softer springs solves the issue. But when will they spend on R+D to get 8 pounds off it and an electric start?
They cant get 8 pounds off it coz its got a beam frame. Please Suzuki go back to steel KTM style frame. I dont know why the Japanese wont do it, Herlings, Cairoli, Webb are winning championships on them so they definately strong enough !! What is the obsession with an aluminium frame, it just makes them heavier?
I always assumed the steel frames were heavier.
what filosofi suzuki . but rmz . numero unO for me . .suzuki just neEd ridEr level a like james roczen webb
Eventually all of these bikes will be gone, Euro 5 along with other things 'emissions'. Doubt they will make a bike in 2023. Or others who knows future does not look good.
Cant be too bad if triumph is wanting to get into the dirt
Euro 5 has nothing to do with MX.
Sometimes I forget Suzuki is a brand in mx
I'm only 138lbs and fast as a mutha, so a bike being 7-8lbs too heavy isn't that big of a deal. Until they bring back the steel frame, have to work with what we have. I wish they would all go 3-4 yrs without upgrades, let people have time to adjust to the bike and not waste God's precious resources. We're just wanting to have a good time and I could still have a blast on my 1983 Rm125, if they still made them and boy bring back my brand new stock 1986 Honda Cr125 or Cr500 and let the fun begin... I mean these 4 strokes have been around for a LONG time and every year people complain about something. The cost of these bikes have gone nuts, slow down some and keep the price down, unless your making 3 mill a year racing one..
God's precious resources hahahaaa. Dig em up and let's use em.
@@jackbannock3458 ok as long as they put a steel frame on the rmz. Either way I'm still fast as a mutha, maybe too fast if they improve it much, if they do, its over for me.
Buy an outdated bike and then throw more cash at it? Easier to just buy a better bike from the start.
Maybe. Still going to spend money on suspension either way if you’re serious about it. Springs are a cheap fix. I’d buy new springs, some Emig V2 grips and a Bill’s Pipe. Unless you get the RM Army deal with the PC pipe included.
It will be useful for anyone who has bought one in the last decade.... that is when I decided to not watch this lol
But you decided to comment anyways even though no one cares, thank you for your expert Suzuki input
Hes wrong dude the bike was 100% redesigned in 2018. Bam. Watch the video. One may pass you at track .
Great video
