I wanted to use root riders too but I feel survivability is a big problem for me especially if I use overgrowth on the town hall compartment and end up with one star

Root riders are just broken by design. Tanky, good damage, breaks walls, targets defenses. Holy mother of combination. No amounts of nerfs are going to balance them.. unless the unlimited wall breaking ability is taken away.
The good thing about you, and it helps a lot, is when you attack you say what you are thinking ("where is ff value, warden is going there" etc.) Every time I go to attack, i make the same questions to myself and it helps get more 3⭐️
