    True! However, i still mix all of my stuff on DJ grade headphones and then go to friend's studios(or car systems, or whatever) and check my mixes on monitors in properly treated rooms. And I've been doing this for so long that 99.9% of the time my mix sounds exactly how I wanted it to sound, apart from the occasional sub being too loud. So, everything you say is absolutely true, but at the same time with enough practice, you kinda adapt.

      Oh yeah for sure, and one thing I forgot to mention in the video is that EQ's aren't everything either. Hardware and comfort are a big part of it as well. Checking your mixes in a bunch of speaker systems is always a must whenever you're finishing your mix :)

      @@AudioHaze Every new speaker system I check my mix on introduces new problems. It's a circular problem that never ever ends. Ever.

      I tried some mixes on my jbl club ones and they didnt come out so bad at all.. I would need to learn them a little better but still not bad... been looking at headphones lately and loosing my mind... all the reviews are good and bad with every headphone, no headphone is perfect... some are the complete oposite in reviews ... dam

    How is the EQ of ATH M40X compare to the ATH M50X? Almost the same?

    Hey man, your mindset is kinda wrong: Every producer mixes into one device KNOWING how it sounds into OTHER devices... so, in the end, it does not matter if your device is 100% flattened out or not. There are no lies here... What really matters is to get used(!) to whatever your device is (just get a good one headphone that people uses to mix, and that's it) and by getting used i'm meaning: knowing how it sounds compared with other devices... Another tip: Be extremely careful about using 100% flat devices, since this pretty much takes off the fun/taste of listening to music (and you don't want taste-less experience to be your default when approaching to music, in the long run it sucks)
    If you still want to use the sonarworks, at least dry it out in the dry/wet setting...

      I think you're definitely right on the listening to flat devices for fun! Personally I prefer more low end and upper mid range in my consumer buds, but I also know plenty of people who prefer reference grade sound signatures :) its all a matter of opinion. I do think there's a common misunderstanding that mixing headphones are flat though. Then it comes to closed backs, thats extremely hard to accomplish and I think many assume monitoring headphones to be perfectly flat but they are not :/

    Yeah I figured this out the hard way. I use an rc-505 with pretty good headphones, then I switch to apple earbuds and is different, it’s annoying

    • @AudioHaze
      @AudioHaze  3 роки тому

      Yup! Best way to go about it is to just listen on every speaker imaginable. The best speakers you can find, the crappiest you can find, they all will tell you important info about your mix :)
