- A group of friends were hiking at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park just south of Gainesville, Florida, when they witnessed a clash between wild horses and an alligator that crossed their path.

@@TheMendo123 Maybe not. I've seen Crocodiles which could do it, but highly unlikely a Gator could unless the horse slipped and the Gator got a grip on its neck. Either way, the gator could tear open a leg.

The allogator is facing the other way and sitting still in the middle of the road. Only time I see turtles in the middle of paths is them definitely sunbathing. Since we can assume the horses came upon the alligator, its a safe bet the alligator wasnt traveling. Probably sunbathing. When they do that you and I could sit down next to them and probably not get attacked (not advising it).

All equids have this instinct. I raise donkeys and mules, and I've seen ours defend the clan against snapping turtles, Fisher cats, and other predators. A strange animal that is harmless can also trigger it, such as the pig that invaded our winter pen this past year. The slashing forehooves are like knives and extremely dangerous.

Horses aren't something to mess with, they're literally one of the most dangerous prey animals to exist. The Gator is lucky it's still alive honestly (unless it's dead after the second blow and I just have bad eyes).
This is also why you should never let you dog aproach a horse.
