Cubot, Umidigi, Ulefone, Oukitel, Blackview, Doogee . Long live those Shenzhen brands. They all went through phases. Whether that was trying to look like the iPhone X or when Huawei properly started to establish itself in the West and came out with the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro. or claiming to be "The world's first rugged smartphone with 48mp sensors" even fast-forwarding to 2024, the back of this phone looks like a 2022 Huawei phone

Lovely to see Cubot didn't care about the software at all. Is Flutey Phone the default ringtone on MediaTek ALPS builds of Android? Or just in general with AOSP?
Well, i can say that i value a fashion phone. I have - after all - purchased both, the Nokia 7280 in black, chorme as well as the 7380 and the 7360 .. back when they came out as a fashion phone (and by me buying it, i mean i pestered my dad to buy them for me) - all those phones are practically useless .. but fashionable!!!
I really appreciate your in-depth reviews. For the most part, I'll watch the intro, listing, turning on, set-up, specs, Quick Shortcut Maker, Conclusion, and teardown. Sometimes, if I have nothing else on the back burner, I'll watch the entire thing at 1.5 or 1.75 speed. The Aussie accent at that speed is hilarious. 😂
The review of this compared with "Techmagnet" is like night and day! 😅 Techmagnet praised this phone so much! I have this phone in for review too and have been disappointed too. Screen brightness is poor too.
Wow I just had a skip through his review and I would say that he may have been also paid to look at it because it's way too positive for the phone. I like it - don't get me wrong but there's just some things that cubot need to fix and clarify and I was just being as upfront and honest as I could in the review. Good luck with your review on it though!
Great review! I hope you'll get more branded phones even though you are really honest and they don't like it so much. Oh yeah, I'm so happy for 100k subscribers, you deserved every one of us ❤
Yeah look the specs aren't bad and it's fine performance wise, it's just those cameras lack so much. Nah don't know about Lidar on anything else apart from iPhones. I thought a Pixel had something but it's ToF.
I've contemplated by one of these phones before. I've seen some great reviews on Amazon then followed by some really dreadful ones. This phone looks OK, but the fashion is not for me. I'm going to provide a genuine answer. From my experience, Asia, especially East Asia and Southeast Asia, are quite obsessed with a concept called "face". Flaunting looks/aesthetics, wealth etc is a normal thing. As for the fancy case with the strap, mirror, and cardholder/tiny purse thing, these are kinda nice to have. Women's clothing hardly has pockets, if at all, and we usually carry out phones in our hands where we live. Additionally, our purses also don't give us a lot of space sometimes (and are usually heavy), so having a wrist strap or shoulder strap to carry phones is not uncommon where I live. Having a mirror is nice too cuz we know when to touch up our hair or makeup during the day etc. So yeah there is definitely a market for this, oddly enough
This phone is obviously designed for teenage and girls in early twenties in less developed countries. But hardware is suspiciously close to another Cubot phone, X70 , which is $40-50 cheaper.
Oh the screen ooooooo oh much curved ahhhh , but don't play games or take photos or your sht is gonna die lmao ...100mp camera but can't take 4k or 60fps video with almost HDR in it's photos and a night mode that doesn't do anything.... Just buy a few year old flagship not this trash
I’ve got a Cubot "rugged" phone called the King Kong or something. It’s not terrible, and was great for my son’s first phone. He’s at a connected school where they use a lot of apps. For $189, we have no complaints…has lasted several years, now.
I can't remember the model but I had a cubot a few years ago it was really nice made from glass and metal didn't feel cheap at all but was only about £160 I had ot for about 2 years and dropped it out a window while trying to film a helicopter flying low o er my apartment building . I tried buying another one but it was not being sold on amazon anymore
They didn't with the Pocket I reviewed years ago, I grabbed it out the other day and nothing. I have emailed Cubot to ask if they will actually publish any updates at all with this.
@@SMOOREZ Quite similar experience with everyone at unihertz, oukitel, etc. won't say all devices, but majority does have issues it seems small companies aren't that good at pushing updates...so I have very low hopes with this one as well
Welcome phones are about 80 usd. This is $220 usd but way better than anything welcome has to offer. Never had an oled panel on a welcome, anything past 4GB RAM or a secondary rear camera on one. Hope that gives some perspective :)
I personally rly like the g99, even in my tablet it can squeeze out playable frames in any game I've given it. It's also one of the best value midrange chips rn, assuming you don't need 5g, and can find the price. My lincplus t3 was $99 usd on amazon, for that processer I could only be pleased w that.
Geez, the video camera performance was quite dissapointing. You've reviewed cheaper Welcome phones that worked much better. The microphone wasn't bad, tho.
Great vid man. Still trying to figure out why dankpods has so many subs compared to you. He doesnt make much content, is it his ADHD "quirky" personality lol?
If it was 219 AUD I'd say it could be worth that much... but any more than that and I'd expect better cameras, a Snapdragon processor and maybe even 5G. I usually flash a different ROM onto my devices, even if only to add support and functionality once the manufacturer dumps it.. but with that it's not possible which reduces it's value for me. Instead of it being a 5 year phone, it's a 2 year phone at best.
Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but "Parum" was probably supposed to be "Parfum" (French, & therefore fancy for "perfume") given the design of the embellishment it's on.
Greetings @Smoorez. How is the music called, you use as backround for your Photoshoots? Love your videos, they kind of give me peace of mind and let me relax. Thank you for that.
On the battery consumption tests I’m interested to know how disinterested the phone gets in maintaining network connections.... I'm sure the cameras would be pretty good if they had put a more modern processor into it like a Dimensity. But people that buy this phone will buy it because of the look anyways
Supposedly pre-release prices are off. Cubot reassured me it was $219 USD and if you check in the advertising it says it too. I asked Cubot what the hell is going on :\
Nah not quite the S10+ as that had the hole punch camera to the side and no 120Hz. So it's more like S20 series but they had way better resolution and ppi.
@@SMOOREZ oh! S8/S9 kind of screen. I'm sure that Samsung could easily increase the DPI while keeping their old mould. Interesting phone, but I'll stick with my new Cobalt Violet S24 that I got on Apr. 8th.
Like 5G isn't a huge deal for me but it's more future proofing since the infrastructure is getting bigger and better over time. I mean here in Australia, we nuked 2G and 3G to make way for 5G and if you don't have a phone with VoLTE here - it won't be able to receive calls. Besides 5G SoCs are getting so much cheaper and more feature packed that it seems silly to go with just a standard 4G SoC instead of that little extra mile you know?
No offence to cubot and the people who use them but why would you buy something like this when you can get something like a z flip 3 for about £200 or a s21u for £150 from cashies.
@aleksazunjic9672 each to their own I guess but the price to performance and the quality materials used even now 3 yrs after launch the s21u I have & paid £150(GBP) second hand nearly half the price of the cubot but 10x the phone and still feels premium same goes for other flagship phones from 2021 even the s20u would be a better proposition in my opinion everything's better much better from the camera to the screen to the internals running the show and that's even including the exynos chips we get in the UK shit I'd even recommend the o+7pro or 7t over this.

I seen someone familiar on Shein
Kinda looks like the Nova Y91
Very phone
Just what I needed right now, a nice chill Smoorez phone review.
Price on the picture $ 199.99
Listed price € 401.19
Supposedly pre-release prices are off. Cubot reassured me it was $219 USD and if you check in the advertising it says it too. I asked Cubot what the hell is going on :\
Does it also support Indian networks...??
I'm not sure, you'd have to check the bands list and see if it is compatible or not.
@@SMOOREZ it was a cool phone though...
12:35 it's color palette applied
I know that, I completely forgot later Android does this. I use OneUI and forgot it does that as I set everything manually.
Cubot took the S10+ screen, put their own motherboard and cameras in, and called it a new phone. 🤣
8th.
Da fuk are phone balls to make the speaker sound bigger than it is?
Foam balls. Sound dampening stuff.
@@SMOOREZ ty for the info ^^
Like if you love smoorez 💕
Honestly very impressive for the price, great package!
Yeah with the exception of no 5G it's a pretty impressive phone. Especially since it's not a "Welcome" phone.
@@TheBlargMarg Eh, 5G is whatever, I have plenty of 5G phones and I never use 5G, software seems to be the biggest issue here.
@@SMOOREZ This phone is mostly targeting girls in less developed countries, so 5G is not an issue.
No offence to cubot and the people who use them but why would you buy something like this when you can get something like a z flip 3 for about £200 or a s21u for £150 from cashies.
Yeah I mentioned that a couple of times in the review to consider older flagships. Those phones are about $400 to $500 max here.
@SMOOREZ nuts aint it the last and only cubit phone I used it was trying to be the mi mix and did a pretty bad job of it.
Because Cubot is much better than (ab)used zflip 3 with all those nasty folding cracks.
@@aleksazunjic9672Yeah I'd probably advise going with a second hand foldable. But anything else would be fine.
Buying for my wife now!!!!
Hafury never heard that brand lemme say that's just another Iwish phone
I have just entered the Giveaway, 8 entries for Facebook and 8 for UA-cam.
Not having Great Expectations.
