Also, regarding the "drink tea" part at the end, it seems that while "cha" won out in most of China, apparently Hokkien "teh" is where English indirectly got the word "tea". Also, while the Japanese word for tea is also "cha", its word for "drink" is 飲む (nomu), which has the same Chinese character (in traditional form) as Cantonese and Hokkien.
