- The head of Ukraine's armed forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi has laid out his strategy for defeating Russia, and the challenges his country faces.
With increasingly limited funds from its allies, Zaluzhnyi says Ukraine must seize the moment and improve its use of technology to "inflict maximum damage on the enemy".
His stance comes amid rumours of a rift between the army general and Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

I've searched almost two years and still struggle to find a historical analogue to this "war"; it is strange on so many levels. For example, Ukrainian officers must have gone to a different kind of Military Academy. I've never seen so many "double envelopments" in the study or observation of any war; Military Schools usually teach officers to AVOID these, but AFU seems to make being encircled part of their strategy. I realize they don't want to lose territory; but Hannibal only won at Cannae because the Romans DIDN'T REALIZE they were being encircled until it was too late. Ukraine allows the "pincers" to form, then sits there for MONTHS in many cases while they close around them.
Nobody likes been encircled but sometimes you have no choice because there is nothing you can do unless retreat (aka run)
