Does anyone else question the validity of Allure's Best of Beauty Awards? I mean, are these REALLY the best products, or did these companies pay Allure to feature their products? Nevertheless, I enjoyed Allie's video as usual!

Past beauty editors have admitted they feature stuff in the beauty section of fashion magazines while not giving it much thought. I know Allure does test products on staff, but unsure if it was done this year because of Covid.

Yeah this is exactly what I thought. I have tried quite a few "allure winners" and they were lame so idk but they need to chillax haha
they did in fact send out products this year to testers, however the choices are limited because they may only send for example 5 different say bronzers to choose from and youre just forced to pick one.
So surprised that the Maybelline Cheek Heat was even on the radar for a “best of” list, much less being a winner. Sooo much better cream blushes out there!

The essence shine shine shine gloss in "Happiness in a Bottle" is one of my absolute favorites!
It's my favourite gloss formula! Just last week I bought 2 new to me colours (last week it was 1.19 EUR). I'm very happy.

It has always been my guess that these kinds of awards are given to brands that advertise with them, not necessarily the actual best in each category.

Allie will you please make a video on how to match all the colors of what makeup you wear. Like, how to pair a blush with a lip color and eyeshadow. Cool tones vs warm tones, etc. I have a lot of colors in my makeup collection, but I’m scared of trying a lot of them because I don’t want to look like a clown!

Its seems a bit suspicious of Maybelline and Allure, it seems like Maybelline could have paid to be on that list or Maybelline could be funding them
Could be... but at the sometime maybelline is pretty big on the drugstore .... and they have a lot of products . They have good blush and highlighter and single eyeshadow. I am surprise that L’Oréal is not on the list especially with that fresh wear foundation
The way they test isn't going to the store and choosing anything. Rather, a pre-selected pool of products are distributed to about 60 people who then test and I am guessing vote on the final result. So it is quite a genuine test! I think that's where Allie has a different perspective, she picks her best of beauty based on everything she has touched, whereas Allure is slightly more curated just because they have to distribute the products to employees to test (it can't be unlimited products).
Actually they test thousands of products, that is what beauty editors do for these best of lists. I agree that I don't always agree but they are not cheating.

Megan Swem me too, I do that now too because of Allie. Can’t imagine doing my foundation any other way now, as well as using my beauty blender to press in blush after applying blush.

Or instead of a brush, use two sponges. One to dab and apply your foundation and the other clean one to take of excess foundation. Works better than a brush.

Kelly Gooch didn’t like it. She had to declutter it. It stuck to the few dry patches that she had. She is in her twenties.
It was going for 60% off or something (at least 50%) here in my country at the one drugstore chain it has a contract with 😄😄. I almost got it but found way more cons than pros when I went interneting for reviews. Thank god for generous and honest interwebs peeps!

Allie could you do some cool-toned looks? Like a full face of cooler toned makeup including cool blushes, like mauves, cooler eye looks, and cool toned lip colors? I feel like most of what I see on yutube are warm looks. I enjoy most of them but I would love to see cooler ones!
Yes! I have such a hard time finding nice purple based eyeshadow pallettes. Everything is red/orange which looks horrible on me. I wear what looks good on me instead of whats in style.
melani mcready off the top of my head, milani cosmetics has a really nice cool toned purple palette that I was obsessed with using for a while. It’s called “plum basics” and I found it at Walmart, but it’s also on their website and probably at ulta as well!

I love both of their camo concealer formulas. The hydrating one surprisingly more even though I have oily skin.
The shade pioneer is my all time fave red color. I used to wear it almost everyday before the pandemic!

Some of their choices are a little weird I find. As in the pallet. As you said, there are SO many pallets that would have been better. Maybe a Colour Pop one?? I feel like I would trust a list you did more. Oh oh oh.....you could do an ALLIEure awards list! So we didn't have to wait til the end of the year haha. I'd LOVE to see you do a Brush Winners video. How have I never even heard of the Milani stick foundation? I really loved their Screen Queen foundation that came out this year, but didn't even know about the stick one.

You have such a sweet and gentle way about you that makes your videos so relaxing and calming.
I tried the Maybelline cheek heat too and also felt that it was too sheer. I then tried the Milani cheek kiss liquid blushes and they are AMAZING. The shade Nude Flush is a total dupe for my glossier cloud pain in dusk.

Your bronzer application on your forehead is the smoothest and most natural looking bronzer I've ever seen in my life
I am super excited that you showed the Maybelline Tatoo Studio creme eyeshadow in "Socialite" being used as a base, something new to try with this, one of my holy grail eye products that I've only used as a "one and done" look previously (so simple and pretty). I remember they had a shade once called "Inked in Pink" that's no longer available; "Socialite" is a close dupe with a tad less pink in its base but still it was so pretty, I wish they'd bring it back. I have and love several of the other items you used, but you gave me so many new ways to apply them, I am excited to try them out the way you showed us. Love your style, your aesthetic, your talent, your adorable personality and your channel! Oh and those lashes OMG!

I LOVE the Covergirl clean fresh pressed powder!! I use the shade fair. I don't like using powder usually because I don't like how cakey powder makes me look, I prefer the dewy no-makeup look, but this powder doesn't make me look cakey! My skin still looks fresh and dewy after using it.

I usually have to wear waterproof mascara cuz my lashes, but I tried Loreal Air volume Mega Mascara. Really nice! I compared it with Thrve and Both were equally Fantastic. Couldn't tell the difference!!
Love these vids Allie. I'm pretty sure Milani discontinued their conceal n perfect line. The liquid n stick foundation as well as the concealer. It was on clearance at all the drugstores I went to a while back n now I see it at TJ MAXX n Marshals. That's probably y u didn't find it lol. Just an FYI. Also I miss the handy fan🤓🙁lol. I literally watched this video to see if they picked the Maybelline super stay matte ink lipstick because it is AMAZING! The shade “founder” is this beautiful berry red color and it is to die for. I’m glad to hear you at least mention it’s lipstick!
I hate the Essie top coat. It always makes my nail polish look dirty. It looks great on the first day or two, then it literally makes my nail polish dirty. It especially looks bad with pastel or lighter colors. I've tried so many different top coats, I've never had this issue

LOVE that expressessie polish. dries so quick and lasts so long, i have so many colors. The original formula is crap, this is SO much better and THE BRUSH sis is the best. I went for it because I was looking at polish at target and another girl there recommended it, she was even wearing it and it looked good. I was sold, and I'm glad!

I really appreciate your honesty about the products you weren't crazy about! But my favorite part of the whole video is when you were done and you said the look makes you excited for fall and winter. I have been on the hunt for a good lip color for fall and winter that is not a total bright red and not VAMPY!! Lol I mean no disrespect to anyone that likes a vampy look because some people do look great, its just not a good look on me or at least not one I like on myself. I was unsure about the lip crayon but when she put the gloss I WAS IN LOVE
the revlon creme eye shadows def do stay on. I used one as part of an eye-look for a dance show (8 dances; 2 hours of lights, facial movements, and sweat) and it stayed on! The parts that I layered a different powder color adhered pretty well too.
The Essie Gel Setter Top Coat is the best top coat I have ever used, hands down. My favorite nail strengthener is what I get at Walmart. It's by Nail-Aid.
I think it’s much more useful to hear the favorites of a beauty UA-camr that you know and trust that has similar skin concerns. Allures awards mean nothing to me, but Allies reviews mean so much! 🧡

that lip bar bronzer/blush thing has been showing up on my ads for months now! the packaging is gorgeous though, but I was worried it would be too dark for my skintone. I hadn't seen too many people actually review the lightest shade in that line, so this is super helpful!
the Maybelline instant age rewind is the BEST concealer. I am so surprised that didn't make the list. Also, the Maybelline fitt me matte poreless foundation is by far the best foundation. It beats all high end as well!! As far as translucent loose setting powder the Coty airspun beats all high end. My makeup does not budge when I use these products:)

i love my cheek heat coral on a bare skin in the summer. it gives a very natural and subtle glow and flush it looks gorgeous. it's more like glossier rather than a very pigmented full on makeup kinda blush.. but yeah.. if i put it on top of a foundation and blend it, it barely shows..

I actually love the cheek heat blush! I find I get much nicer color pay off when I use my fingers. I tend to use it with just a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, so not sure how it would work on something with more coverage. Thanks for testing all this stuff, Allie!
I have really enjoyed the Neutrogena radiant primer and serum on my very dry skin. It has worked better than just about anything I’ve tried to keep my skin feeling hydrated for hours. It doesn’t get talked about but it sure is a great product (on me anyway)!
I actually quite like the Maybelline cream blush but I can see how it wouldn't appeal to those who like a more intense blush look. I like being able to build up the intensity and that one is very buildable in my opinion :)

Just got the confirmation to buy the Lip Bar Fresh Glow Bronzer+Blush. Been itching to try them for a while and feel confident that Travel Bug probably would work best for me being in the fair/light complexion realm.
I know this wasn’t in the category of the best of; but the brow pencil, tone and color you used looked perfect on you!!! I like the brow gel if that’s a priority..it is for me! Keep that gloss on the down low we don’t want them to raise the price!!! I can’t believe it’s only $3.00!!!!

The only products i'm honestly intrigued about are the primer, the eyeshadow pots and the wet n wild eyeliner. I have the elf glitter eyeshadows and i actually like them. Also the maybelline falsies mascara it actually makes lashes look longer, i know since mine are very short and have never looked that long and beautiful.
Oh my gosh! I just went out and bought that ELF liquid glitter and Cover girl brow setter (cause I needed one) after watching this and I'm obsessed!!! I can't get over how pretty the glitter is!!
